    Hurricane Harvey

I used the pool pump set to waste to drain the pool. I left about a foot of water in it. But I just now remembered to check the thread. Do I really need to go back over there and start filling the pool? Should I completely drain the pool to get the mud and stuff out first? Can my sand filter...

    Hurricane Harvey

The whole pool is four feet deep all the way across, except for the 9 inch end. You can hand dig a well here on the island so floating the pool is possible. I desperately need a step by step guide. My brain is not working right now. Too many things going on. I need maximum help PLEASE!

    Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey had his way with my pool. It was filled with untold amounts of debris and is now black after three weeks with no power. I drained the pool today with the pump to waste. I don't want to make a misstep. Is my plaster too new to be without water and for how long? Should I leave...

Black Algae, Wire Brush, New Plaster

Pool is black, fence is gone and my home was under 21 inches of water. Pretty much everything I have left is in two vehicles. The only way it could be better is if everything had been completely blown away. The mess and mosquitoes are unimaginable. It'll be quite awhile before my next reading.

Black Algae, Wire Brush, New Plaster

Hurricane Harvey has had his way with my pool so all bets are off for now. I do wish I'd dumped a few gallons of bleach in it before I was mandatorily evacuated. But alas, I don't even know yet if I have a house to return to. Doesn't look good right now. Thanks everyone for all the input! I'll...

I haven't added any bleach since 8/15/17. Yes I'm comfortable and confident with the how the CYA dot looks.

Black Algae, Wire Brush, New Plaster

This morning's reading is as follows. FC 14 (using a 5ml sample) CYA standard came in yesterday so I know how to read the dot. But I only have enough R-0013 on hand for maybe one more test, so I added a gallon of conditioner yesterday (since I know I'm way less than 80) and will check my CYA...

Well unfortunately the filter got clogged up overnight somehow, so the circulation was too low for the SWG to produce chlorine. This morning's reading is as follows. FC 6 (using a 5ml sample) pH 8 I backwashed and added a gallon of 10% bleach and a quart of MA.

Yes I stopped manually dosing, but seeing that I lost 2ppm from yesterday morning to this morning, it seems I'll being adding some bleach at some point.

Thanks again Yak! I completely understand. I'll order the solution, but in the meantime I too am done with the SLAM for awhile. I just don't have the time right now to dedicate to hourly monitoring. I'll be leaving the SWG at 100% 24/7 and adding bleach as necessary for now, and will log my...

Black Algae, Wire Brush, New Plaster

So raising CYA to 80 will take more bleach (and testing drops) achieving FC 31 for SLAM, but it will also protect more bleach from the sun to save money? Seems as if CYA 80 is where I need to be whether I continue the SLAM or not?
