    Waterfall options / suggestions

Thanks Kim. I have found Rico Rock which looks exactly like what I’m looking for. But it appears only a trained installer can acquire and install it.

    Waterfall options / suggestions

I have an existing pool with a small 2’ tall waterfall / wall at one end. It appears a leak has developed inside the wall. If I had to guess, I would say that the plumbing going up to the “falls”(outlet) is encased in concrete. If this is the case, I would imagine a repair would require quite a...

So I decided to go with the digital timer. It's on the way. Thanks!

    Help with pump speeds...

Thanks for the replies! I don't mind spending some money to accomplish this, but hey if I can just redo some wiring and pay nothing, that's even better and may be something to consider. However, I do like having the cleaner on a timer as the pool is nearly spotless every time I go out there. I...

    Help with pump speeds...

I have a two speed pump and a booster pump for my cleaner. I currently have them running off of two Intermatic timers and I have to manually switch the pump from low to high. That is when I remember. So most of the time the pump runs on high. I am looking for a way to have my pump run on high in...

    Please Help!!!

It'll be more than one day if I can't fix it tomorrow. The soonest I've seen that I could have one delivered is next Tuesday. Plus, there is no bypass for my filter. I already use a skimmer sock, but there's no way I'm depending on that for filtration. I'm somewhat hopeful that I can find one...

    Please Help!!!

Thanks! I've considered something down those lines, I'm just not sure about getting the stock bolt out without damaging the clamp. I'll look into it some more in the morning.

    Please Help!!!

I was putting my filter back together and the threads on the band clamp stripped out. I need to find a new clamp and buy it tomorrow. We are having a pool party Saturday and the pool has to be operational. I've found it online but No one can get it to me in time. And I refuse to pay more than...

    Making the switch

No, it's been holding pretty steady at 7.5. I even have my wife give me a second opinion on the color to make sure and we both agree on 7.5. The pool stays pretty well aerated because the waterfall dribbles some, even when I have the valve closed. Might be a faulty valve, but I don't have a...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

Well I guess they're not that far off after all. Using an average depth of 6ft. I ended up with 29,700 gallons. I guess the depth did it.

    Making the switch

Well, after a little over a week long battle and a couple of mini slams, I finally have good numbers that seem to be holding strong: 4/24/17 FC - 8 (brought back up to 10 last night) PH - 7.5 CH - 250 TA - 110 CYA - 60 CC - 0 CYA is still high, but I think I can handle it for now. Now on to...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

18Wheeler, If you don't mind me asking, what are the dimensions of your pool, including depth? I saw you mention your pool is 33,000 gallons, but I'm just not seeing that, unless it's very deep. I'm just wondering as I just went through determining my pool size (+/- 12,000 gal) and yours...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Just had this experience with Home Depot bleach. It was the house HDX brand and a few jugs did little if anything to add to my FC level. Bought 8 and 3 so far have been bad. Seems like the others (still in shipping boxes) seem ok.

    Making the switch

CH was up to 250 this morning. FC was really low for some reason. May have gotten some bad bleach. Added more of a different batch. PH was fine. Added 20oz. of acid and have a jet turned up and the waterfall trickling making bubbles. Out of of town for Easter, so I'll try to test it again...

    Making the switch

So I figured I better get the CH taken care of ASAP. I added 15 lbs. of Hardness Plus. I also took took care of the FC. Is the CC level (.5) anything to worry about? If so, how do I get rid of it? How much acid do I need to add to lower TA? Should I even worry about the CYA right now...

    Making the switch

Ok, had a leaking shower faucet this morning that took a lot of the day to repair. I finally got around to my first TF100 tests and here are the numbers: TC-3 FC-2.5 PH-7.5 TA-160 CH-125 CYA-70 CC-.5 Working on PoolMath to make adjustments now. Thoughts? Thanks, Dino

Ok, still waiting on my test kit. If my measurements and calculations are correct, I've been adding waayyy too much chlorine.

    Help with pool size...

Ok, so I have been told by one pool guy that my pool is about 14,500 gallons. Another told me he thought it is around 18,000 gallons. But I just took some measurements and averaged everything and came up with 11,800 gallons. It is a free form pool, so that adds to the challenge. Below is a pic...

    Making the switch

Lol Kim! That's awesome! I catch the drift. I do tend to let the small things get to me. I did go brush the pool though. I will do away with the strips. It is kind of hard though, especially since they got me through last season pretty smoothly. Two more days for my TF100 kit to arrive.

I was kind of thinking that myself about the soft water. I think I may just have him give me a separate hard water hose bib for irrigation instead.

    Making the switch

I've had my un-softened water tested and iron was almost nonexistent. Not sure about any other metals. I'll have to see if I can test it my self. I do know that my hard water is very hard (24 gpg). I actually just purchased a new softener which will be installed when I get the above stated...

    Making the switch

Thanks for the advice! Analog, when you say way higher, how high are you talking? I'm guessing, based on the strips, that it's between 60 and 100. I'm considering doing a partial water replacement soon to get the CYA back down. I am on a well so the water bill is not an issue, but I assume it...

    Making the switch

That's the thing, I'm not getting consistent results with the strips. I just checked again and the cya color is more toward the ideal levels. I don't know! We have had some rain recently, but I'm getting different cya readings within days of each other. If I remove the tabs from the system, is...

    Making the switch

Yeah, I guess the full day of incessant scrubbing, vacuuming, filter cleaning, bleach pouring and sun burn paid off. I'm still concerned about the test strip results, but I guess I can wait on the new test kit as long as it's clear like it is now.
