    sand in pool

I did rinse after backwashing. :D This isn't dirt but nice piles of sand just below the return jet. After taking the filter assembly off, I found the center pipe had split. Any way to replace just the pipe? I found a compatible part on Amazon for about $65 which includes laterals and the...

    sand in pool

Hi guys. I woke up to sand in my pool this morning. There are piles on the steps and floor in front of the return lines. I'm assuming a cracked lateral is to blame. The pump is set to turn on early AM, so it had been running about 1 1/2 hours by the time I saw it. I immediately turned the pump...

Thanks! These links are helpful. It looks like there are some numbers on the hose, which should help for ordering the correct size.

    hose replacement

I came out this morning to see this hose spraying water. It looks like it is coming from the metal fitting on hose iteself, not the connection to the pump. What is the best source to order a replacement hose? My husband is out of town until Saturday. I'd like to get it ordered and delivered so...

How long to run the pump each day?

Thanks for the additional insight! My pump seems to be one speed. I will play with it and see how my water responds to the 1-2 hour limits as the temps dip.

How long to run the pump each day?

Thanks for that! I've been running the pump about 4 hours a day so sounds like I should maintain that and could possibly drop to 2-3 hours in the cooler months when no one is swimming.

How long to run the pump each day?

Any California peeps on here? As we transition into the fall months, I'm wondering how long to set the timers for my pump and vacuum to run each day? Temps have been in the 90s but will be dropping down to the 70/80 range. Nighttime temps get down to the 50s overnight. Pool specs are in my...

Algae Issues for Newbie to Pool and Forum

The Polaris doesn't catch much, just seems to stir it up. - - - Updated - - - Pool is clearing. Still cloudy, almost whitish water. I'm assuming that is dead algae still in the water. New test kit is "out for delivery" so I should have it in the morning. I'm curious what my FC levels really are.

Yes, I meant the Polaris. The bottom is clear. No debris. When I brush there is a puff of something that sounds like mustard algae described on this forum.

Algae Issues for Newbie to Pool and Forum

Kit was shipped today, no updated tracking yet. Water looks a little clearer this morning. Pump is on. Hubby is home tomorrow, so we plan to do a deep clean of the sand filter as well. At this point, how long should I be running the cleaner each day?

Okay. I was worried about it getting greener. I ordered the kit. Will post updated test results once it arrives.

Algae Issues for Newbie to Pool and Forum

Thank you. I'm absorbing a lot of info but this seems harder than it should be. I thought pools were easy. Hoping once I get this process figured out it will be. Since I already have the basic test kit, can I order this http://tftestkits.net/FAS-DPD-Chlorine-CC-s-test-p47.html? According to...

Algae Issues for Newbie to Pool and Forum

Hey all, I'm new here to the forums and to pool care in general. I have been reading these forums and trying to incorporate tips but am frustrated with ongoing issues. A bit of history. We purchased the house last fall as a short-sale. The pool was sparkling but the house was not ;) Being new...
