    No suction from both skimmers!

Sally, So glad you solved your problem! Maybe you can help with mine, because I have a very similar problem. How did you go about discovering the leak at the pipe fitting? Thank you!

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Fortunately for me, a friend of a friend visited, he's helped me before with many issues, does mostly drywall. Sure I could have probably followed my game plan and been somewhat sucessful, but wow!, talk about a reason NOT to do it yourself. This guy is an ARTIST! Basically, he cut some rubber...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Ok, so I decided to go with this: http://www.westsystem.com/ss/epoxy-resins-and-hardeners This "system" has many uses and methods of application and I'm not 100% sure about which method is best. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Even though there is a helpline I can call for...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Thanks for the info. Believe me, once I have the money, it won't be spent of another fiberglass liner, but I have at least a couple of years of doing band aid type repairs before that happens. Here's another question: once I get all repairs done, where's the best place to get some semi-matching...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Awesome! This is just the info I need, thank you. I will be studying all this today. Can you tell me the advantages/disadvantages of using a fiberglass repair kit vs the epoxy? I have a feeling I will want or need to continue to make small repairs like this until the day I can afford a whole...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Sorry, only one photo, but you get the idea. Not exactly a horizontal tear as I described. The other tear is similar and a tiny bit smaller. This is about a 3" tear. I can't even tell you what's under the fiberglass lining. In the lower right of the photo you can see where I applied some...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

If you read this thread, you will see I'm a very patient person, not expecting instant answers, but thanks for reminding me that patience is a virtue and very definitely the solution to my pool problems! Guamguy Thanks for suggesting a marine shop, I have thought of it but simply don't...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

I find it interesting that there is no comprehensive answer for how to spot repair a fiberglass pool liner tear. I've perused all the data on this site and no one seems to have or wants to commit to a definitive answer. I guess it's just the nature of the beast. My game plan is then to...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

I've finally sealed most of the possible leaks. I sanded, caulked, cleaned, etc. In the process of sanding I uncovered a few tears in the fiberglass lining. Seems my "pool expert" used plaster to cover them, although I don't think that is the source of my leak. I'm still convinced the source of...

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

Yeah, I understand the water is still gonna be dirty, I'm just trying to remove some of the sand and grit. Thanks for your reply!

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

Sorry for the  , please refer to my first post on this thread for some background. I'm trying to save a little water (very expensive here and I hate to waste it), so I'm filtering water manually through some nylons with my sub pump as I'm doing repairs. I will not be able to add...

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

Thanks for the reply. Where would it be coming back into the pool? I did notice the water level went down while I was doing this. Is it a good or bad thing if it is going to the filter? Thanks!

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

Ok, so I hooked a hose up to my sub pump, put 2 pair of fine mesh nylons around my skimmer basket and running the water into skimmer. Dumb question, where is all that water going? I was expecting it to come back out of the skimmer. Is the water flowing to the filter?

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

Duly noted, thanks. I will be adding water as I pump the dirt out. Or, that's my plan anyways 8-)

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

Thanks for your replies! I guess at this point it won't hurt to drain the pool completely and add fresh water. I figure I'll put the pump in shallow end and brush all the dirt towards it and see what happens. Would love to hear any other suggestions!

Dirt in pool, can't use pool cleaner

I am still in the middle of fixing a leak in my pool and have decided to do some minor sanding and repainting while I'm at it. There is only about 2 feet of water in the pool so I can't use my pool cleaner to get at the dust/dirt that has accumulated at the bottom of pool. For my background and...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Bought a sub pump and drained about 3" of water to just below the light fixture niche. Will let it dry out a day or so and then try applying some epoxy or silicon, filling pool up a little bit to dye test, and proceed..... In the meantime, I started cleaning up leaves and debris. Could really...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Recap: Susa, thank you again for the photo advice! Current issues: How do I inteligently drain my pool an inch or 2 so that I can seal alleged leaks? How do I keep pool chemistry in check during this time? Thanks!

Roger that on the photos, thanks Susa! OK, here's another roadblock I've run into and can't seem to find a clear answer: What is the best way to drain a few inches of water from my pool?? My understanding of my options is this: 1. I can use a submersible pump 2. ??? Thanks!

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

My friends, I finally uploaded some photos of my pool, but do not know how to post them here. According to FAQ, I need to do a little more work. In the meantime, with the help of a knowlegable friend, we determined that again it is very likely the light fixture is the source of the problem and...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

BK, thanks for that info, I hope to follow up on your suggestions today. Yesterday I plunged into the freezing cold water (by Phoenix standards, mind you  ) to remove light fixture, and am less inclined to do so today, but it's inevitable. Before I do that I have another question about...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

OK, today I removed light fixture, and looking into the niche, I again see nothing obvious. Pool level has not dropped any further. I see what may be a small crack around the edge of the niche and will do a dye test and hope to finally post some photos.

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

OK, Sorry did not update sooner. Still on a learning curve  Looks like the problem is with light fixture. I let the pool leak/evaporate for the last 2 weeks and now it is down to the bottem part of light fixture and holding. No other apparant sources of leakage. I went to dissemble the...

Ok, wow, thanks for all the replies. Bama, submersible pool pump is on my shopping list... Poolguy, I hear ya on the walls thing, but, when I was in process of buying this house/pool, the pool was without much water for several months and walls caving in was not so much the issue. If that was...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

OK, thanks you answered a lot of questions for me. I'm marking the level every night, it looks like it has slowed, but not stopped and with no obvious culprits. It's a common practice to be able to rent a submersible pump? Also, how important is the pressure check at this point and is that...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

So, testing the pressure of plumbing on pool is similar to testing pressure of gas line? Makes sense. I've seen it done, pretty simple, is this something my local pool store might rent to me? And when I find pressure is not good, then what? Anybody care to comment on how important it is to...

    Pool Leaking, rapidly, please help!!!

Ok, thanks for that info 257, I appreciate it. I've read some posts about building your own pressure tester, not really my speed but I have a friend that might be able to swing it. I also have a plumber who has done work in my house and on my gas lines, never mentioned anything about pools, but...
