I have a bottle of HTH algae guard, should I add this to the pool? I've read several things about closing the pool and some people suggest the poly quat and some people don't. I had no idea what that was and then found that it was an algae prevention, the HTH is what I have, will it work?

Thanks for your help. My ph is now at 6.8. I'm frustrated that it doesn't change and doesn't change then it changes too much. Is it ok to start slamming with ph at that level?

Yes I drain it down and cover it. I have the tfttestkit that was suggested on this site. The cya tube has a 20 mark and I filled the tube till the black dot wasn't visible and that was the 20 mark.
