    Pump getting hot

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing. Especially since I have no idea how old the motor is. I kind like the piece of mind to know about my equipment, I think that might be worth the couple hundred dollars for the new motor.

    Pump getting hot

I've seen some discussions on here regarding pumps over heating but still can't determine if mine is shot. I have a AO Smith B945 dual speed motor. Today I came home and it was not running during a scheduled run time. It heard it clicking trying to turn back on. It was extremely hot. It will...

Wiring a SWG with a 3 circuit timer

Or should I just wire the SWG as an accessory then I can have it switch on or off via timer with the low or high speed on the pump?

Wiring a SWG with a 3 circuit timer

I have a 2 speed pump and was given an Intermatic PE153 from a friend that I have hooked up yet. I am going to be adding a SWG soon (AquaRtie w/ T-15). I need some input on wiring these things together. Here is the info about the timer...

    A Couple Quick AutoPilot Question

Now that I think about it more, I guess I would just uses the Intermatic timer instead of the relays in the AutoPilot. The PE153 I have will control 3 things at a time (pump hi/lo & SWG) and has freeze protection. How would you guys hook it up? Any disadvantage to just having the AutoPilot...

    A Couple Quick AutoPilot Question

Ok i have an Intermatic PE153 digital timer that was given to me that I have yet to install. So I can hook it up then run the Autopilot off it an the pump Hi/Lo off of the AutoPilot. This seems like a little overkill to me. Currently I never run my pump on high unless vacuuming or...

    A Couple Quick AutoPilot Question

I'm looking at getting an AutoPilot Digital w/ Dig 48 like this one I'm wanting it to control my two speed pump. The owners/installation manual says "Connecting DIG-220 to Control a Two-Speed Pump (with optional pump relay installed)" Question #1) Do I need to buy a pump relay or is it...

The joy of buying a cesspool

It hooks to a power washer. The different sizes are rated for different PSI and GPM. The 16" can handle up to 4200 psi and 5 GPM. I use a 3000 psi / 3 GPM washer. I'd be concerned about it blowing the sand out from between the pavers. It is basically two 0° nozzles spinning at 300+ RPM...

    Hayward Tiger Shark Experience

Love my TigerShark. The dog chewed the floating cord when it was left unattended. Felt helpless without it cleaning for me. I replaced the cord myself even though it's a "service technician" only part. Found the cord on the net delivered for $95. Only problem I ran into was once I...

    New (to me) Pool

Tested today after waiting 4 days since I added CYA. FC = 5 pH = 7.2 TA = 100 CH = 0 CYA = 35 I think I did the CH wrong last time. I redid it twice tonight and it never turned red indicating calcium. I assume this means a reading of 0. Does this sound correct? Do I even need to worry...

The joy of buying a cesspool

It took 2-3 months working on nice weekends and in between work on the rest of the house. The frogs were alive and thriving, it was basically a full blown pond. For a moment I felt bad destroying an ecosystem, that passed quickly.

The joy of buying a cesspool

Best of all, that's with no chemicals. It tears through the toughest stains instantly and no more of those annoying spray lines.

    New (to me) Pool

TA is now 60. Gonna add another 12 lb bag of baking soda to bring it up to around 90. FC has fallen from 5-6 to 2 in two days. pH holding at 7.2, gotta pick up some soda ash tomorrow. Waiting another couple days to retest my CYA, Thanks so much you guys, especially Jason for The Pool...

The joy of buying a cesspool

It hooks to a pressure washer and cleans as you pull it along. It cleaned the 16" wide strip in the picture in about 30 seconds. I'll never clean a deck without it again. I got it here http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200041224_200041224 I caught it on sale for $150.

The joy of buying a cesspool

Thank you everyone!! Now I gotta start updating all the landscaping. As you can see everything was left unattended for about 5 years. At least I'll have somewhere to cool off in during work breaks :whoot:

The joy of buying a cesspool

I bought a house last year and this was what was in the back yard. Started draining and pulled the dry-rotted vinyl out. After getting the 100s of frogs and half dozen turtles out there was a foot of sludge Power washed the deck, the surface washer was the best $150 spent. Finally...

    New (to me) Pool

I tested my TA again and got 20 again. The sample turned from green to red instantly with the addition of one drop of Alkalinity 2, then back to green when swirled. After 2 drops it turned red and stayed red. Why do you think it is a testing error at 20?

    New (to me) Pool

Pulled the mineral pak, vacuumed the pool and backwashed. Then added 6 lbs of CYA and 2 gallons of 6% bleach. I'll test the CYA again in 4-5 days. How long until the bleach is circulated and FC can be accurately tested?

    New (to me) Pool

The valve can be opened anywhere from a drip to full. I was just thinking of dumping my pre-measured bleach in the bucket and setting it to slightly open so I don't have to kneel there holding the bottle.

    New (to me) Pool

Off to Wally world to buy bleach and stabilizer. I have removed the frog mineral pack. Can I use the reservoir to fed chlorine when I go on vacation? So I need to pour around 2 G 6% bleach slowly in front of a return line, I have 6 gallon bottling buckets I use in homebrewing that have a...

    New (to me) Pool

The frog system was only run for 2 months (and off and on through the winter) after a total water fill. Only one of the "mineral" cartridges. Not to mention the 10-12" of rain we've had. Do you think metal levels could have gotten out of hand that quickly?

Wow thanks for the fast response! I have updated my profile to give everyone more details. New (to me) Pool

Hello everyone. I found this forum a while back and have been lurking. GREAT information abounds. I moved into a house last summer and had the neglected 18 x 36 IG w/ vinyl restored. Liner was gone, full of sludge, frogs, turtles, basically a pond. After months of work it was up and running...
