Clear Blue Water but still new algae everyday

If your CYA is at 30, should your Shock level only be 12? That is what confused me about the , non SWG and SWG, CYA/FC chart. Don’t mean to confuse, but if CYA is 30 you may be wasting Chlorine.

Clear Blue Water but still new algae everyday

Just monitor FC. Adjust CYA, after SLAM. Also ask about 5/5 pool to distilled water test, to save on Regants.

Wish I would have realizes this years ago. Always thought, because of 60*(not recommended) in CYA/FC chart. That CYA Had to be 70-80 for SWG pools.

Pool Light Not Working, GFCI Tripped

My light is wired through a GFCI outlet also, first power hits outlet, then it send power to lights. Could be a bad GFCI outlet. I would turn off power from source going to pool equipment box, test that it is dead. Then tighten all the lugs on the common bar(usually white wires), then...

Thanks for the reply. FC has risen the past 2 mornings, from 8am till noon. Got it to go lower yesterday afternoon, by increasing RPM on pump, increasing flow.

Since passing OCLT test 2 mornings ago, my FC has risen from 27.5 to 31. Have not added any bleach, SWG is off at the breaker, and it has been 90 degrees here and sunny. Cleaning filter and brushing pool daily. Any ideas why it is rising?

I've Failed - Black Algae - Clear Water

Here in Orlando also, just completed a Slam, even got a chocolate Lab. Mine won't get in the pool though. Most well water around here is very high in sulfur, are you using it or city water. If you have hose bib hooked up to irrigation meter, I would use it. I use a combination brush, wonder...

Passed OCLT test last night. Had a strong chlorine smell Sunday night thru Monday, it has gone away. I think something died, now it must go away. Planning on letting FC drift back to normal levels, balance out water, enjoy pool for a bit. Do Borate treatment in a few weeks.

Help, yesterday CC dropped to 0. In error I let the FC drop during the day since CC was 0. This morning FC had dropped from 26 to 17.5, to reach FC of 34, pool math called for 456 ounces of bleach. At 7 AM I added the required amount, test at 9AM showed FC of 45 with CC of 0. Now I am...

James, I never had Copper, more of a de-scaling. Used #2 treatment with the Purple stuff. Did not get the results I was hoping for, it worked great where my return is near a step, and so-so all over. In order to try and save electric cost, I turned my pump down to 1200 RPM, thinking now that...

FC tested at 2.5 and CC was at 25 this morning, no SWG overnight. Cleaned filter again this morning, some white discharge, not nearly as much as over the weekend. Think the Phosphate remover is coming out. Noticed stain on inside of filter(new), pool is somewhat clearer this morning. Still...

Certainly don't want any stains, so SLAM is out. Pool is a little clearer today, first filter cleaning got a lot of white in wash out, 2nd filter cleaning was clearer. Waiting on new Test Kit to arrive then will take readings again. Phosphates are also off the charts 2500 plus, pool did not...

Thanks for the reply. If readings during first 30 days are not reliable, how do you know when you have reached FC/CYA level, if you start after 2 weeks? Funny, Jacks does not advertise this as a 2 month process, and tons of bleach.
