Replacing 3 Pentair Globrites this weekend. What should I watch out for?

I'm replacing 3 out of 4 Globrites this weekend. Ideally I would have someone do this, but I can save a lot of money doing it myself, and it seems easy enough to DIY based on what I've seen online. Question for anyone who's done this themselves, were there any unanticipated issues you ran into...

    Intellichlor Warranty

Does the Intellichlor chlorinator need to be installed by a licensed Pentair vendor for the warranty to be honored? A year or so ago I'd looked to have our IC40 replaced or repaired under the warranty. When I started the process on the Pentair website, one of the mandatory questions was who...

Thanks so much for the help. Could I run the pump longer with the chlorinator at a lower % to achieve the same results? Will keeping the generator at a lower % prolong its lifespan?

Does that mean this would maintain a FC level of 2.8 in the pool? Is that how that works?

So we are all filled up. Chem levels below. CYA is still low but I ran out of stabilizer. Ph 7.2 Fc 2 Cc 0 Ch 475 Ta 180 Cya 30 Salt 3000 Only needed about 240 lbs of salt to reach 3000 as opposed to the 400 I’d anticipated. The salt indicator on the SWG says low, though. Currently the...

Just about filled up. Tested the water and here's where we're at: Ph - 7.8 FC - .5 CH - 375 TA - 160 CYA - 0 The new chlorinator is installed, and now I just need to restart the pumps and watch for leaks. I'll start adding stabilizer (87oz) according to Pool Math then. Also, updated my...

Drain complete and refill under way. Is there a best practice for when to add the salt? Does it matter? I’m using water softener pellets, which I understand should work fine.

Thanks! I haven’t had a chance to update my sig with the pool details yet. It’s on the agenda.

Can someone confirm my figures: If we're starting out with a fresh fill, I'm going to need roughly 375lbs salt to bring levels up to 3000ppm. Sound right?

I’m assuming our very hard water coupled with little to no upkeep on the unit by the previous homeowner substantially shortened its useful life.

I was genuinely caught off guard by the price. Last time I priced one of these, last summer sometime, I remember it being more in the $650 range. It's obviously a tougher purchase to justify at this price. The current unit I'm replacing is no more than three years old (with little to no...

Well okay, finally had a chance to test our water this evening. ph - 8.2 fc - 1.5 cc - 0 ch - 1375 ta - 220 cya - 70 salt - 3800 Based on the pool math, I need to drain approx 80% of my pool water to lower that ch. But if I'm just refilling with hose water, isn't that water going to be just...

Don’t know. We never added salt so I assume it was the previous owners.

When I get a chance, I will. I plan to drain about 1/3 of my pool this weekend in order to lower the salt levels, but should I wait for a new generator before doing that? Would it make much of a difference either way?

I posted this pic last year, and this was after chipping away with a paint stick and using the hose. There was so much build up before I took the pic that you literally could not see the plates at all. It looked like someone squeezed toothpaste over the ends. Since then I’ve removed and cleaned...

Ah, then it was the multiple acid soaks I had to do to remove the excessive deposits that caused the blades to deteriorate. Makes sense.

Thank you for the info! We are debating replacing now or switching to regular chlorine until prices drop. Our current cell is only a couple of years old, but our hard water just destroyed the blades. It didn’t help that the previous homeowner apparently did next to nothing in the way of...

Is there a TFP preferred online retailer to use when buying a replacement SWG? Prices seem to vary from site to site. Also, I’d read that these units are more expensive these days than maybe a year or two ago. How much did these cost back then?

Pentair Intellichlor heavily calcified/obstructed. Is it salvageable?

No, no water softener here. Do you have estimates for how much it'd cost to install one for your pool?

Pentair Intellichlor heavily calcified/obstructed. Is it salvageable?

I've considered this but never did the homework to figure out how exactly to go about it. I may give it a shot. I've been working on getting the TA down (it was >400 at one point) slowly but surely, and also trying to maintain the Ph at a reasonable level as well. It jumps up really quickly.

Pentair Intellichlor heavily calcified/obstructed. Is it salvageable?

Right. So assuming I cannot do a full drain until the fall, what do you recommend I tackle in the meantime? After a quick check of pool math, it's telling me I'd need to replace 79% of my pool water, and that's a little more than I'm comfortable doing this time of year. I can't do anything...

K1766 gives me 4800. I don’t have a test for borates so I can’t complete the csi in the pool math app. With all other readings entered, however, the value is 1.57. and FYI Ph 8.2 Ta 270 CH 1200 Cya 60

Pentair Intellichlor heavily calcified/obstructed. Is it salvageable?

Assuming the Intellichlor is beyond repair, should I wait to replace it until I can drain the pool and lower the salt, which would be around October at the earliest? Or would I be okay using with high salt but with more frequent cleaning?

Pentair Intellichlor heavily calcified/obstructed. Is it salvageable?

Couldn't this further damage the unit? Although if we're operating under the assumption that it's useless as-is, then doing this can't really make things worse, I suppose.
