My pool liner is floating out several inches consistently all the way around. Last year when it was much worse I hired someone and they vacummed it out behind the liner. I was thinking of doing this myself, but do not have a shopvac....could I use the pool vacuum hose via the filter and vacuum...

Here are two photos from today...I assume that is algae collecting in deep end. There are a few instances of this throughout the pool so I guess I need to keep slamming. FC level seems to drop faster now that it's clearer--is this directly related to more sun and warmer temps or something...

UPDATE: My wife is a believer! Our pool has never looked better as we head into our 3 summer as pool owners. I still need to do the full testing later today and fingers crossed 24 hours from now it passed the overnight FC test and then we are full-speed ahead and hope to take a dip this...

I think I'm on my last day or two of SLAM depending how overnight test goes. What do I need to do to bring FC level down and convert back to salt water pool?

This is Day 9 of SLAM and still have some green in deep end. As I said earlier I lost some ground for a couple days due to some other stuff going on and FC dropped to a low level for too long. I haven't tested anything except FC level since I started SLAM. I hope to do a full test tonight and...

I've seen steady improvement each day although my FC level dropped lower than I would have liked one day due to family commitments and I only checked it once and then next morning it was a 4. Trying to get it back up and finish this thing off. Will update with pic later today.

It's definately not clear. Just keep slamming? Should I test CYA to determine if I need to adjust my shock FC level?

Coming up on 72 hours since I started the process pre-SLAM and then SLAM. I've added 2.5 bottles of bleach and FC has never been below 10 with 12 as the target. We did receive about 2 inches of rain overnight. Is it time to test CYA again? Any other tests I should run after 3 complete days...

It's been almost 48 hours and I'm shocked how well it's holding it's FC level. Upon inception on Sunday I added about 1.5 bottles of bleach and 1/3 bottle two different times yesterday. As of this morning FC level is holding at 12.5. Sun is just coming up so hope to post a pic in a few hours.

SLAM is going well so far....after prepping pH and CYA to appropriate levels I brought FC to 12 on initial SLAM late afternoon yesterday and it held when I checked around 8pm last night. This morning it had dropped only to 10 so I added bleach accordingly. I plan to check again in a few hours...

Yes, she has been a big help on this....except when it came to squeezing the sock during stabilizer addition.....that was all me for that long hour! LOL

I have to add quite a bit of stabilizer and will probably need two socks. Can i put second one in shallow skimmer?

I haven't started anything yet. Going to vacuum and run test results again today since these were all done late yesterday and couldn't get started until today because I had to go get the chemicals. I assume ammonia test is basically step 2 on what Texas Splash told me...make sure I can...

TX Splash, yes, I think I am clear on stabilizer now. Does muriatic acid have to be granular? Looks like liquid is much easier to find.

I think this is my last question for now. I have a saltwater pool SLAM says I need to get it to 70, not 30. Can I assume you thought I had a Non-SWG pool? Also, salt is registering low and has for awhile....turn chlorinator off and don't add any salt until SLAM is complete?

What does this mean "You can have the stabilizer socking in a sock and add acid at the same time."? I thought I should wait until FC is at 5-10 before proceeding to stabilizer.
