Green coming out of pool jets

I would have bet a million (ok a hundred) (ok at least a dollar) that there was no algae in the pool. However science does not lie. Sigh off to the bleach store.

Green coming out of pool jets

Someone earlier mentioned that, but on low speed, there just isn’t enough power it seems. I have a Barracuda vacuum I think, and the tool they give you to test how much suction you have shows barely a 1 out of 6 and they want you to be in the 3-4 range. It barely even moves on low...

Green coming out of pool jets

I get what you are saying about the FC. I’ve just never had that happen but you are right I suppose. I love that you call it a big silver pre filter thing because I had no idea what to call it lol. It is just a kind of vortex filtration and it just has a tiny bit of debris at the bottom...

Green coming out of pool jets

I’ll run an OCLT tonight and see what it says. I just don’t see how my chlorination would be keeping up with an algae bloom. That has never happened. As soon as I notice cloudy/green, check FC, it’s always been 0. But not this time.

Green coming out of pool jets

Thanks all. Just wanted to be clear that I have done slam many many times in the past and this is not algae. If it is then it defies all logic. It’s just dirty water and leaves. My results are attached along with a video of what it looks like after I clean the skimmer basket and turn...

Green coming out of pool jets

Hi all! In the past couple of months, we replaced our old above ground pool that was desperately in need of replacing. Once we got our salt and chemicals in check we had a nice month or so. Then we had our first big leaf fall and our little robot they gave us wouldn’t keep up. We started to...

    Surge protectors

Hi all! I’ve potentially lost yet another board due to a strong thunderstorm last night. Definitely some electrical burn near power output. What is the best way to protect against this? I have a GFI circuit breaker but not sure if that protects against everything? It definitely didn’t protect...

Trying to help a fellow pool owner

So I have a friend that is just getting started with his pool. He mentioned that it did have a hint of green tint to it. He took his water sample to the pool store, and was told "your levels are good." However, they also told him he has metal in his pool water due to his water source being...

    Repairing wedding cake stairs

Yeah that does make sense. If I were to just use the top of the cylinder and glue or somehow fasten to cover that hole it would have to be very strong, as it would need to support someone's weight. I wonder if epoxy would do it. Or if epoxy would do it, I wonder if just epoxy on that lip...

    Repairing wedding cake stairs

Thanks for the reply. I attached some more pictures. The steps themselves are hollow inside, so I don't know if bags of sand would work. I did think about putting some kind of metal loop around the top of the cylinder that could both keep it from sliding down and be supported to either side...

    Repairing wedding cake stairs

Hi all! So I have these wedding cake stairs that we absolutely love. They have weighted cylinders that slide down and hang on a little lip in one of the steps. The only problem is that where the weights "hang" that little lip has started to tear off. Is there anyway to repair this or...

Hayward aquatrol burned out pump plug

Hey man how's it going? Yah this was last year's board. I was concerned about what caused the scorching in the first place, and wasnt sure if i should try repairing since it looked like there was damage to the path from that last relay. What could cause something like that? It makes me think...

Hayward aquatrol burned out pump plug

Hi all! So a little late opening the pool this year. Went out and installed all my gear, Aquatrol RJ, pump etc. Pump wouldn't power on, and noticed a flickering on the display, half characters showing up, just generally all screwed up looking. So I started testing. Noticed that if I put any...

Hi all! Any guidance for Aquatrol-RJ not turning on the pump, even while set to ON? Confirmed the pump works fine. Thoughts?

SP1515Z1BC impeller reorient is it possible?

Turns out this was as easy as taking out the four bolts on the back of the motor and simply rotating the impeller housing!

SP1515Z1BC impeller reorient is it possible?

Hi all. I am replacing my burned out motor + impeller with the same model from Hayward. However the new one has the outlet in the vertical position whereas the old one has it in the horizontal so that it is directly connected to the filter housing. Is it possible or even recommended to...
