    CYA Might be High

Pool is less than a year old and have always used liquid chloring and only tablets when on vacation. What else can cause the CYA to rise, if my test was accurate? I ran out of the CYA reagent, so I am ordering more. Not even sure what the actual measurement was since it was below the 100...

    Pump Pressure and Cleaning Question

I back flush my pump at least every 2 months, once the pressure rises from 12 to 17. My starting pressure once backflushed and new DE added is always 12. Curious if I take apart filter to spray and clean the filters if this pressure would be lower? I have never disassembled the filter since...

Confusion as to why my chlorine level is not increasing

I will order that kit if it's easier to read the CYA. The Taylor kit seems like it has to many variables on that particular test. Although I did purchase the speedstir and that makes a world of difference on the other test.

    New Pool Questions

Going on week 3 with water in the new pool. Chlorine seems to drop overnight, from 3ppm to 1.5ppm, is this a normal drop? Also bought bleach at Home Depot, it's their brand, Germicidal Bleach, but I can't tell if its 8.25% or 10% strength. Using pool math, if it's 8.25%, it suggest to add 32...

    Quartzscape Tahoe Blue

We are thinking of upgrading to the Quartzscape Tahoe blue, PB mentioned it has been reformulated withing the last three years to help alleviate the mottling. Also probably adding a couple bags of abalone shells. Most issues I read about are from 2013 and before. Really don't care for the pebble...

    Close to filling new pool

We are getting close to filling new pool, plaster should be completed sometime next week. PB provides startup chemicals and does all the initial work. My plan once he hands it over to me is to use the methods here. All ready have the Taylor test kit and speedstir. I am planning to test the fill...

    Equipment Placement relative to pool

We are in the process of building a pool and plumbing is starting. Originally the PB wanted to place the equipment about 6ft off the deck of the pool. After seeing this, I would prefer to have it up closer to the house. The issue is the pool is being builit on a built up slope which is...
