    Questions about clear solar covers.

Yes, I suspect something is brewing. I have 0 CC, I believe. When I did the dpd powder test the water did not turn pink at all. I normally try to keep my FC according to my CYA level. I usually have the FC a little high as I try to get it just right, I feel it's better to be a little high rather...

    Questions about clear solar covers.

Hi guys. This is our second summer with our new pool. We had a blue solar cover until a couple weeks ago. I never really had a hard time keeping the FC level right. The cover got hit by a hail storm and we replaced it after it had lost hundreds of blue circles and was really falling apart. We...

Swg gram per hour, how to convert?

This link takes you to an older post with an excel spreadsheet download that you put in you SWG size, what % is't running and how long and it'll tell you how much FC you're producing. You can also put in how long you want to run, how much FC you need and it'll tell you what % to set it. It takes...

    Pool Store Nonsense

I know how you feel. Last week my pool builder finally had their "Pool School" for customers at their business. I went with expectations of maybe being told how my equipment works, how to take care of it, how to program it and how often to clean/change things. I was instead listening to the pool...

Is there something wrong with my filter?

Manual calls for 9 pounds, but thinking back to yesterday I think I only did 6, my scoop does 1.5 pounds and I was thinking 4 scoops is so much faster than 9... and the math doesn't add up. And there is a lot less DE junk in the filter than there was when I cleaned it, pretty sure I...

Is there something wrong with my filter?

It's odd looking, but the guy assured me it was right.... The flow comes out of the top of the pump, goes under the filter and into the lower opening of the push/pull backwash valve and into the upper opening of the pump like it's supposed to. Then it comes out the lower filter opening and...

Is there something wrong with my filter?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. My pool was finished and filled at the end of February. When the pool guy started my system he added the DE dry into the skimmer, saying it was fine to do it that way even though I've read to make a slurry. Initial brushing showed very little plaster...

    New build in southeast Arizona

Thanks for the advice and tips everyone. We went to Harbor Freight and got a submersible pump. I'm using it to circulate water between the pool and spa. The main body of pool water seems to be holding the PH stable and rising very slowly, but the spa isn't. I've been brushing right after adding...

    New build in southeast Arizona

Yes, I did figure out that the SWG is going to be in that long stretch of tube in the bottom right of my last picture, they plan to install it after the 30 day start up is over and I can add salt. I felt silly not knowing that the box was a check valve , but at least I didn't plumb...

    New build in southeast Arizona

Sooo... A guy came out to get my pump moving my water around, and he spend a lot of time looking at manuals and my set-up and was looking at my backwash valve. He was thinking the plumbing had a problem, so I got my manual and double checked. He was right. The red circle is where water from...

I tested my PH on a whim and it was 8.2. So I diluted 5 1/2 cups of MA and poured it around the pool then brushed for a bit. The spa topped off with 600 gallons so the hose went back into the pool for the last inch it needs to be halfway up the skimmer. My ragamuffin had a blast being able to...

So, after putting the hose in the spa I thought I'd give my wall whale pool brush a quick spin around the deep end.... It worked pretty good, just have to take care the fin is pointing back at me instead of down at the pool floor. Got most of the way around and realized my pole is WAY too short...

No, they called it a Shasta finish, after the concrete was done they came out and applied a beige textured coating then the next day they painted it. It's cooler than concrete in the sun. Koolcrete is similar, but for places with warmer temps.

Sorry Kim, it was 30 degrees at 7 AM when I checked the pool level, no way am I standing around for pictures in the dark. :D But at 8 I took this one. After getting my son off to school I ran around looking for MA and when I got home I got this one for you. Another couple of inches and I'll...

I could, but I have a water meter on the one line so I can have an accurate volume, and a large filter just in case. I put a towel down so as it gets wet any spotting/staining won't be linear, it should appear more mottled and I can live with that.

Thanks for the info Kim. I'm keeping an eye on it to try and gauge how fast it's filling, should be close to done in the morning. They did not acid wash, just a traditional start up with some sequestrant. The floor return for the cleaning system in the spa keeps puddling water in my spa, not...

Vegas home, family wants a pool built yesterday, but...

Good fences make good neighbors? I'm fairly introverted and happy to have solid walls between my yard and others. Once with a chain link fence the neighbor's dog put his bottom up against the fence to drop his business on my side.... And considering the size of my new neighbor's dogs when we...

After 2 hours we've only got 1000 gallons in so far. Been taking some pain meds for a foot injury so mathing is hard for me today, but by my estimate that puts me at 28 hours to fill the pool. Not bad. They want to let the pool sit still until Monday but I insisted that someone come tomorrow...

Everything has gone so smoothly, I feel very lucky that we haven't hit any snags. Yesterday was inspection, the inspector asked the PM a few questions then had to hurry off and didn't even check my door alarms. I know there's a post plaster inspection also, so maybe he'll check then. Almost...

Not much happening in my yard. It's all ok though because 1. It's only February and 2..... Well, there is no 2, looking forward to getting this done. Tile was on January 10th and 11th. They did not put the tiles on the steps and benches yet, waiting until closer to plaster date. I'm hoping it...
