Hayward Heater - Gas Valve - Why Do These Fail?

You should be able to confirm looking at the fittings. They should have 1" usually stamped on a flat side somewhere or on the edge.

Hayward Heater - Gas Valve - Why Do These Fail?

Couldn't agree more. Proper trouble-shooting can save a LOT of money from replacing perfectly good components. Last time I checked gas valves are extremely pricey.

Replacement pump housing for Hayward W3SP2603VSP?

These FRP housings can't take a lot of of over-tightening. Take a photo of the housing you are threading into then blow it up on your computer. Examine the whole thing carefully. If it's cracked very likely you can't see the crack with naked eye. Blown up just a little will reveal this...

Hayward Heater - Gas Valve - Why Do These Fail?

That makes sense and probably why you can't buy a new one anywhere. Thanks. I should have known that!

Hayward Heater - Gas Valve - Why Do These Fail?

Just because it stopped actuating doesn't mean it actually failed. Much more likely you have something else that is preventing voltage to the solenoid.

Hayward Heater - Gas Valve - Why Do These Fail?

That's really unusual. In my experience they almost never fail. I would also think you can just replace the solenoid... if it's actually failing. How have you determined that it failed? Have you checked voltage to it when it is supposed to open?

    Im a virgin!

Who dat! Welcome to TFP Edle! You came to the right place. I've got a little reading for you while you get your test kit on order. You'll need it to care for your pool. We don't sell them and we don't sell anything. That's why we are the best place I know to get pool advice. Don't go to...

    Aiper Scuba S1 Review

OK my test results are in. Liberally apply silicone lube to plug fitting works great. Completely dry today. If it's not dry blow it out with your mouth. That works fine too. Yellow blinking charge light. No red light.

DIY PH measurement and CO2 Injection System- Project Summary

BTW I made a few changes to the system and it's improved a LOT. I moved the injection point downstream of the pH probe. Even with .1 second pulse of my solenoid valve I'm still getting a pulse of tiny, tiny bubbles after all. Looks like I'm going to need that diffuser @JamesW recommended or...

DIY PH measurement and CO2 Injection System- Project Summary

I used borates on my previous pool and they worked great. May still have some and I have the chemicals to do the borate test. Need to read up on @JoyfulNoise posts about that test. Never knew they'd reduce scaling. I also never had scaling before... always thought it was because I kept CSI...

    my first swg

Joel, What brand and model on the swg. Get a Taylor K-1766 salt test and test your water for salt before you add any. You'll be surprised how much you already have and if you assume 0 you'll definitely end up too high. Use Pool Math to calculate # of salt needed. Most brands want you to...

    Aiper Scuba S1 Review

I keep mine on the patio next to the outdoor receptacle where the charger plugs in. It's 10' from the edge so charger doesn't get wet and is in the shade all day. To facilitate draining of the water in the charging port I have a 3' piece of 3/4" pipe and I set the other end on the pipe. Chris

Just tried this. Worked like a charm. A little bit of a pain to hold it up in the air and blow on it but works great. Started with yellow blinking light.

DIY PH measurement and CO2 Injection System- Project Summary

It's a new pool and combination infinity/zero edge. LOTs of aeration which causes off gassing and pH to rise... should get better as the plaster cures but I think this pool is going to be an acid consumer long term more so than most pools. Chrisx

    Aiper Scuba S1 Review

Here's another idea. I have an old scuba tank outfitted with an old regulator. Tank is up to date on inspections and I use it to test dive gear in the pool night before I go diving. Doesn't happen often but its a sad day when you're at the first dive site and it doesn't work. You just spent...

    CO2 pH Control

Adding a update on this system. Bottom line is I love it. It did superb during my 3 week absence for our Italy trip. Only change I had to make was to modify the program slightly so it would persist through a power outage. The ESP 32 has plenty of memory to use for this so I made sure the...

    Aiper Scuba S1 Review

I agree it needs to be improved. Each time I open it water drips out of the connector. So I roll up a tissue or cloth or sometimes a Q-tip and dry it out. If I don't do this it will start with a red blinking light instead of yellow. Guessing that's not good.

    Pump Making Noise

Ti, Get a screw extractor. There are several brands and some work better than others. I used these thousand's of miles from Home Depot when we were sailing the eastern Caribbean. They work well when you can get enough vertical force straight down on the head of the screw. This video...

    How do decide on builder?

And don't forget to ask each one for a sample contract. Every single contract except one that I've seen on here needs changes and all the good builders readily change them because the changes are needed to simply make it a fair deal. Not way unfair to the buyer like most of them are. It makes...

    How do decide on builder?

91, Welcome to TFP! And good job getting quotes that have a lot of comparable factors. I'd put this all into a spreadsheet so you can compare a little better. Also you should independently think through your selection criteria. Think about things like warranty, quality, price, schedule...

New VS motor for my pump

Charger, I did the same thing with my Jandy pump years ago and increased from a 1 hp to a 1.5 hp Century VS. Worked great! But it only saves significant $ if you set the pump to run at speed optimized for your pool. I found I could run at ~1800 rpm instead of 3450 for most of the day. This...
