What kind of piping/connection is this?

Interesting. I'll look into it. I have the receipt from lowes, I'll take a look and see what I have. Wasn't aware. Did my own pool about 5 or 6 years ago with same fittings so hopefully it holds forever I suppose.

What kind of piping/connection is this?

Can only imagine the rabbit holes I'll end up down. Replaced the sand filter with a top mount hayward and had to replumb the entire thing. Don't know if I'll get hate here for the overuse of primer/glue but it holds They're back up and running. I wanted to move the pump to cut down on the...

What kind of piping/connection is this?

That makes sense, I have never seen a non top mounted valve before. Had them send me another picture and you are correct. Will take a drive out to confirm it's actually broken and not incorrectly tightened. Going to TFP school has its pluses and minuses (I guess I'm the family pool expert now)

What kind of piping/connection is this?

Oops you're right. On my phone. 99% sure it's an install issue just not sure what the sealing method is on those connections given the tapered pipe.

What kind of piping/connection is this?

My wife's father's brother reached out to me asking if I could fix a leak he is having. Don't have much to go on, could be a bad a O ring or seal but I don't recognize this type of piping/connection. I use standard PVC at my pool and this looks like something that would be sold as a part of a...

Wait to add more salt or go ahead?

Yeah I overshot with the 15 bags. Currently at 4800. I vacuumed to waste yesterday about halfway down the skimmer and refilled to top of skimmer. Was over 5000k. Reading 4600 to 4900 on RJ 60 and 4800 on salt test. Supposed to rain tomorrow possibly and then supposed to rain next week. I'll...

Wait to add more salt or go ahead?

Turned it on at 2800 per your note and was surprised/relieved to see it not give low salt and shut off. Didn't know it would run under 3000 instant. At 3000 - 3100 instant now. I'll do a salt test in the morning. Sometimes just need a sounding board before I make any rash decisions I guess

Wait to add more salt or go ahead?

My pool is 20,000 gallons. At least that's what the math says and I've always balanced against 20k wirh success. Moving to SWG. I added 600 lbs of salt total. 36 hours later (I have less than ideal circulation), the swg is reading 2800 to 3000 ppm. 24 hours read 2400. 36 hours read 2800. No...

Any reason why this setup is not okay?

Thanks! Good to know. Just put in a new GFCI today while I was in there so i could double check the wiring as I inherited the pool. Everything up and running. Just waiting on salt to dissolve. I'd post some pictures but my shed needs some serious TLC.

Any reason why this setup is not okay?

Just want to check and see if anyone thinks poorly on this setup. Did some forum reading and most things revolve around timers which I don't use. Picked up an RJ60. Just jumpered it to 110V. My pump is wired to a plug that goes into a locked GFCI outlet (has a outlet lock box over it). Plug...

    Chlorine way too high

That's valid. I'll start moving the CYA up. Sun should set in about an hour or so. Finally got most of the debris vacuumed out, still a little bit of organic material but not much. I'll test again tonight and should be able to test around 5 or 6am right when the sun is coming up. Hopeful...

    Chlorine way too high

So my kit just came in so been going blind since opening. FC: 23 CC: 0 TA: 100 CYA < 20 PH 7.2 I added 2 lbs of stabilizer when I opened the pool thinking I'd rather be under than over and then clearly I went way too high during slam. Wanted to slam and keep chlorine high knowing I couldn't...

Garters made the pool shed their own

Going to let them stay for now. We get a decent amount of field mice around here, maybe theyll help cut down on that a bit. Unless 4 turns into 20 more lol

Garters made the pool shed their own

Had a garter in the yard past few years I have left alone. Walked into the pool shed last night to turn off the lights and now I have 4 of them. Looks like one must have laid eggs somewhere around the shed.

New Hayward Pump, inlet/outlet wrong per mfg spec?

I pulled back cover off and checked for anything. Checked the impeller. Turned it back on and its running. Little concerned, figured a capacitor blew but I am not seeing it. Have a message out to Dohenys. Not sure if I should let it run. Appears to be running fine. In good news, new straight...

New Hayward Pump, inlet/outlet wrong per mfg spec?

You guys were all right. All set and installed. Except appears pump is dead after one day, so gotta figure that out. Was in the pool shed backwashing. Turned pump off, switched to rinse, turned it back on and pop and a cloud of smoke came out of the back..

New Hayward Pump, inlet/outlet wrong per mfg spec?

I think I am honestly just confused but I dont see how. Posted a while back about replacing pump which ended up not happening due to me finding and repairing bad wiring. This year I decided wanted to go with a new pump. Picked up the hayward super pump 1hp, current pump is a 1hp. Model...

    Plumbing Tips/Upgrades?

I'll cut it back a bit and get myself a nice straight run prior to connection. I imagine so of my issues are that it is curving directly into the pump and fitting. Had not thought of that. I'll move that 90 from pump to filter to a sweep instead of a hard 90 as well and run a pipe to the...

    Plumbing Tips/Upgrades?

I could cut them back a couple feet, about as far back as I can go. Thought about clamping them down to the ground so they cant move. Used the pvc cement last time I made a connection to them with the tapered fittings. Is there a better fitting or glue option for flex pipe?

    Plumbing Tips/Upgrades?

I had an elephant cover installed in the fall. I was chatting with the installer, who does pool work on the side about getting a new pump. He took a look and said my plumbing is less than ideal. I know what pump I need to get. Not sure if there are some tips on plumbing? Its pretty basic so I...
