    Trying this again... PLANT SELECTION!!!

100% truth. I know for certain that 99% of the leaves I net out of the pool are from my neighbor. He "loves nature" and does not trim or maintain the trees along our fence line. I trim what I can on my side, but it is like holding back the ocean with a broom.

    Hello, from Frisco, Tx!

Welcome Josh! I have a dear friend in Frisco who has problems with his pool but he won't listen to me about joining here. You have made a great first step.

I knew I was Pool Stored when...

Dirk: Thanks for the insight, I never really thought of it that way. Going on 5 years and still OK, but your larger point is a good one. I may just pick up an OEM and use that one for peace of mind.

I knew I was Pool Stored when...

I had the drain cap on my filter break. It was plastic and old and I tightened it just a bit too much. Pool store had one for about $12 or so. As I stared at the broken cap, the size looked very familiar. I then went to Lowes and picked up a 2 pack of caps for an outdoor garden hose for 97...

    Dead IC40

I had an iChlor30 and it blew the fuse. I replaced it a few times and it kept popping, so time for a new cell (I ended up with the IC40). Point being that if the fuse keeps blowing, it is the cell.

    Darkening of pool floor-deep end

I have a question since I want to learn..... Copper is not a candidate for the polyfill in the skimmer method like it is for iron, is it?

Liquid Chlorine vs Baquacil - Can someone provide the pros and cons?

After building my pool, my deck advice is.... Figure out how much deck you think you need and then double it. A couple of years ago, we increased our deck by a little and it made a huge difference. I do wish it were larger, though.

New Fiberlgass install. Pool is bowed in and poured coping is warped. I hate it.

I have a River Pool that was installed in about 2011. Mine was installed by them before they had franchises like the one you are dealing with. I had a pretty steady stream of conversations with Marcus and Jason (2 of the 3 owners) during the installation. There is absolutely no way they would...

Jan 2025 IG pool build in Georgia, need liner re set!!!!

My son goes to a military college in GA. They needed to have a pair of old jeans for a training exercise. They emphasized "old" jeans because the red clay would not wash out of them. That clay is no joke. :)

Opinions on this 16x36 sport pool surround please

Maybe gray pavers to keep the look of the contrast while having a flat surface.

Stain - fibreglass - small orange spots - random - tried everything

I pretty much have the same thing in my pool. Nothing seems to work - though I have not tried sanding or the stain ID kit. It started with 2 or 3, and now I seem to get a few more each year. My cleaner bag has several "rust" stains as well. My guess is something from the lawn, but I do not...

Chlorine lock using aqua smart system

That seems...... unlikely...... Either the chlorine is there or it is not. If it is there but the CYA is too high for it to be effective, it will not sanitize. Once can have a very high chlorine reading and still have issues if the CYA is abnormally high. There is a real verifiable...

How do clueless owners fix algae bloom?

This is my sister-in-law's method. My wife was over there last weekend. Pool was hazy (couldn't see the bottom of the deep end), too full (skimmer not skimming), and green. My wife suggested lowering the water a bit, so the skimmer could (you know) skim, and was met with a bit of resistance...

    Salt water pool over shocked

Hello Salty1: A little tough love...... You are not using your pool while you wait for a guy who only comes once per week (when he is not on vacation) to try to "fix" the "mess" he created. Kind of crazy, right? No one, and I mean NO ONE, will care about your pool more than you will. You...

    Combined Chlorine and Algae

Much smarter people will weigh in shortly, but you need to get away from the pool store and get your own test kit. You cannot mix the advice here with the advice from a pool store. They got you into this, but you and a great test kit and the really smart people here can get you out. You may...

North Dallas Algae - Help Needed

You are correct, relying on Leslie's is the root cause of his problem. Do you think that the white spots are caused by the broadcasting of the granular chlorine? I think that is the case. I also think those spots are giving the algae a good spot to anchor to. Another question..... Is it...

North Dallas Algae - Help Needed

Hi folks. I am trying to help a dear friend in the North Dallas area. I was visiting over the weekend and he mentioned a few pool issues. Eventually I was able to see his Leslie's test result (I know, I know....) and take a look at the pool. I am always hesitant to offer a lot of advice...

RPM’s to keep Flow light green

Toss a brand new filter in there and see what happens. I have an intellichlor IC40 for my 20k pool and a VSP pump. I am diligent about cleaning the carts (I have a small cart as well) but here is my story. The IC40 was installed while I was out of town and they did a poor job of it (and they...

    Pentair Ichlor30 replacement

Correct. Power Center is the same, but you will need to re-plumb. I just made the same swap (ic30 to IC40). Keep an eye on whomever is plumbing this for you. I had a disaster of a job (I was away when they did it) and they had to come out again and try to fix it (this will be discussed in a...

    Rust Spots in Cleaner Bag

We do have a lawn service for this that does a couple of applications per year. I thought the same thing, that it might be them, but the distance from water to the grass ranges from 4 feet to 15 feet. I'll note that anything is possible, but we have had the same guys for longer than we have...

    Rust Spots in Cleaner Bag

Seeds etc: No, these are stains that will nor wash out even when I used straight bleach in a bucket with the old bag. Metal: No ladders - lights are plastic - poles for brushed are aluminum and aside from fading from the sun, they appear intact. Cleaner: Outside looks new though the plastic is...

    Rust Spots in Cleaner Bag

Hi folks--- I'm looking for some answers..... I have a Doheny's Dolphin cleaner and it is probably 10 years old - maybe a bit less. This season, I noticed the inside of the bag had a large number of what appeared to be very tiny rust spots on it. A lot, like a kid having measles, number of...
