Upgrading pump and need new control system, recommendations?

I just posted this and then saw your post. Cheapo Pool/Spa Remote Switch It was a relatively minimal investment and can probably do what you need it to do. You should be able to add multiple switches and have one (or more) button(s) control everything. Add a Lutron Caseta switch for you r...

    Cheapo Pool/Spa Remote Switch

A little background – I have a pool with an inground spa attached and I love them both! The issue is that the spa is turned on and off with an air switch so there is a looooong length of tubing running from the spa to the equipment pad. I’ve replaced the tubing already a number of years ago...

    Cost of Automation - Why?

Depending upon your desired level of automation, SmartThings has some good controllers (and associated relays/switches) that you can lump together on one interface (I use ActionTiles). The cost of admission really isn't bad at all. The benefit of SmartThings is that you can add all kinds of...

    Raypak Heat Pump Remote Control

I may not be understanding your question, but here is what I do with my Raypak heater: Note that the heater is able (via a flow sensor) to know whether you are trying to heat your pool or your spa. You should not have to go to the heater to change it to spa mode UNLESS you want to either...

I put my solar cover on last weekend, and mine is already up to 80 degrees!

Plaster question : Aqua cool mini pebble with blue glass beads

One other thought... I had some pool work done about a year ago, so I had to drain it and refill it. I was pretty surprised at how green it looked after the refill- after all, that’s TAP water that I drink! The green hue did die down, but it took a few days of filtering and chlorine.

Water features that make the most noise?

IMHO.... I think I'm in the same situation as you are (fairly close to a busy road). I have a ~30" wide spillover that falls about 20" (height) into the pool - it makes a good enough noise to help drown out traffic. Generally, the longer the water has to travel to get into the pool the louder...

    Sand Filter for 10' Intex?

Probably not. Generally, cartridge filters can be better than sand filters (assuming your Intex came with a cartridge filter...).

^^True. I believe the government is paying for pretty much everything for the vaccines. I haven't heard of anyone getting charged.

    C-19 Vaccine-I got one

I got my 2nd round of the Moderna vaccine this past Monday. My arm was sore, just like my first shot But I woke up the next day felling a little flu-like; body aches, a little joint, pain, a headache - but no fever. Not bad enough to stay home, so I did go to work. A number of coworkers also...

Considering switching from Gunite to Vinyl

Ahhh - I found it! Stick with gunite for the design flexibility and read this Pool Surfaces - Trouble Free Pool I believe the reviews on this forum have been pretty favorable on these finishes...... quoted below: Plaster Alternatives Such as aquaBRIGHT by ecoFINISH or ResoCoat by Resodyn...

Considering switching from Gunite to Vinyl

There is also some kind of epoxy-like coating you can coat a gunite pool with. That way you would maintain the design flexibility and minimize your maintenance AND have a smoother finish in it; it also minimizes ph change. Someone brighter than I am will probably chime in.....

    Pool heater life expectancy

Just like your car, maintain it and it will last a long time. My old one was 15 or so years old when I decided it was cheaper to replace it than repair the heat exchanger (it was natural gas). My new one is a few years old and working fine. Keep your water within TFP guidelines and I would...

Losing Water and I don't know where

It's a longshot, but make sure your new circulation pump isn't oversized; it could be powering a jet or 2 too much and aiming water at the cover and spewing it out that way. Maybe the fitting on the new pump looks fine when it is off, but leaks when it is under pressure when it is turned on...

    Conduit freeze worries?

I recently found a leak in my spa from the light niche wire conduit/connector. I drained the spa and jammed some butyl tape where the light cord exits the niche and voila! No more leaky spa! (y) I used my syringe of dye while the spa was full and could see the dye seeping out. It was...

    Conduit freeze worries?

So either your niche lamp is leaking some water into the conduit or the conduit is not sealed for some reason - maybe the conduit cracked years ago due to ground water getting in and freezing or it has a bad joint somewhere. You could try to fill the pipe as high as you can with dyed RV...

    Changing light to led

Holy cheeseballs! That's a bright light (around 4,000 lumens). Be aware that LED lights might not be as bright as your original halogen bulb. Ask for the lumen output so you can compare apples-to-apples.

    Drainage issue into my pool

I live in Florida and have the same issue, but it's because 20 years of lawnmowing and not picking up the clippings has caused the ground to rise up. Raypak heater always on?

Update: I pulled the board out completely; there was a very strange rust-colored blob on the keypad-side of the board, close to the display. I cleaned it off with a wire brush and generally cleaned other miscellaneous gunk off the board (not much, but there was a dead spider there too, and I...

    Raypak heater always on?

Thanks for the bump, Kim! Alas, the "repair" did not work long. I'm pretty sure it needs a new board, which isn't in the cards this month (too many bills!). I'll just manually turn it on & off when I use the spa. My finances will look better in December or January. :)

    Raypak heater always on?

So I was looking at my equipment pad today while the POOL pump was on and my Raypak gas heater was on (the heater was not set to turn on with the pool and the spa had no water flow (the spa pump was not on)). I checked the spa switch to make sure it was not stuck on and it was fine, but the...

How do you clean your attached spa

My spa plumbing is attached to the pool pump with valves, so, when I'm lazy, I will turn the main pool pump on but have the water come from the main drain in the spa. I'll brush any visible dirt towards the drain, then reposition the valves and voila! the spa fills up and I have a clean spa...

    Induction Cooktop?

I have had induction for quite a while and completely love it. You can have the heat low enough to melt chocolate but also have the power to boil a pot of water in 2 minutes. I've had no issue with warped pots or anything like that, though it seems like most pots and pans made that are...

That's a nice product! It appears that the screening is identical to what is recommended for a screen enclosure (18 x 14 fiberglass mesh), but vinyl laminated, so it will allow some light to go through it. Note that, like an obscure window, it will not let all of the light through like the...
