One other thought... I had some pool work done about a year ago, so I had to drain it and refill it. I was pretty surprised at how green it looked after the refill- after all, that’s TAP water that I drink! The green hue did die down, but it took a few days of filtering and chlorine.

It's a longshot, but make sure your new circulation pump isn't oversized; it could be powering a jet or 2 too much and aiming water at the cover and spewing it out that way. Maybe the fitting on the new pump looks fine when it is off, but leaks when it is under pressure when it is turned on...
