Any Idea What This Stain Might Be?

Thanks onBalance. The walls all around appear darker than the bottom (especially in certain light). I'm just afraid that the contractor will want to do an acid wash or something else that will shorten the plaster life. I know plaster eventually needs replacing, but I didn't expect to see defects...

Any Idea What This Stain Might Be?

No there is no roughness to it. It all feels to be on the same plane. I've read that post over and over and I'd convince myself that it was from that first paragraph. It's just so odd that the pool cleaner seems to do something to it, but the brushing does not.

Any Idea What This Stain Might Be?

I have kept all my numbers in range since initial fill back in January. Currently: FC - 7.0 CC - 0.0 pH - 7.7 TA - 40 CH - 450 CYA - 40 Borates - 30 What's weird about it is that it appears as if my pool cleaner is cleaning the bottom part off (looks like tire marks at the base), but doesn't...

    Summer Solstice

Not sure if this is the place to post this thread, but here it goes: The summer solstice is fast approaching. This means (at least for us in the lower portion of the US) that during the 2 weeks before and the 2 weeks immediately after, we are peppered with a higher concentration of UV as the...

    Another Over-sized Single Speed Pump

I am very pleased with it. Way quieter than my previous one (due to lower settings) and has all the controls I need. The controls are a bit quirky and do take some getting used to. I thought about buying the add-on user interface, but after learning and getting used to the factory ones, I don't...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Finally done restoring the landscaping and the sprinkler system. The water has looked great since initial fill in January and now at 83F, it sure feels good also!

    Another Over-sized Single Speed Pump

Installed the V-Green 165 today. The difference in noise emissions is remarkable! Now I just need to tweak the run times and rpms.

    Another Over-sized Single Speed Pump

Thanks for the replies. It does seem a bit quirky, but I think it can do what I need it to do with not too much complication. Perhaps an upgrade for the user interface down the road once I get it past accounting...

    Another Over-sized Single Speed Pump

Yeah my pump is 1.65 THP. It's a 1.50 with a SF of 1.10 (Century SP3210Z1M). The Hayward pump number is SP3210X15 Pump-1 1/2 Hp Tristar. The motor is listed as Item # SPX3210Z1MR.

    Another Over-sized Single Speed Pump

My new pool was supplied with a loud 1.5HP Tristar pump/motor combo that I believe is way overkill since I don't have a spa or waterfall feature (I only have a couple of bubblers for what it's worth). Can I change out the motor and salvage the new wet-end pump? Initially I was intrigued by the...

The coping is just what they called a multi-blend flagstone (just means it has different colors in it).

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Thanks DV! I'll be glad when the rest of the construction is done. I haven't dipped a toe, but I'm already spending more money! It will be worth it tho!! Kim, I guess since we don't really close our pools we should still follow the recommendations. Mine sure doesn't take much to keep the FC up...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Thank you for the reply. I think that I had that thought for a little while but since the water temp was above 60 today, I decided to just stick to the recommended ratio, but didn't really know if that was right either.

Finally Done in League City Finally done and going. Now to put the yard back together... All numbers look very good so far and the water temp has been between 55 and 62. After months of reading and learning, I finally have a couple weeks under my belt and PoolMath is definitely such an...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

After weeks of rain we're finally done digging! Our yard is a mess and our sprinkler system is shot, but the pool is finally dug. Maybe tomorrow we might even get rebar installed. I'll admit that for some time there I did feel over my head and overwhelmed by the project. I know in the end it...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Re: Almost Ready to Dig! PB came by and we discussed my concerns. It was probably more of an issue that the pool was drawn to a scale and then made to fit the land survey scale. Not a big deal as we re-drew it to stretch it out a bit to 7.5 ft instead of 6.5 ft at that radius. Finally we are...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Re: Almost Ready to Dig! I think that's where I've been a bit nervous. When he marked it, he told me the water line would be about a foot inside his markings. I hadn't studied the drawing or interpreted their scale yet, but since he helped me out with understanding the scale, I had time to...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Re: Almost Ready to Dig! I tried to take pics when they first marked it out, but they don't do justice from ground level. The biggest discrepancy is that the radius of the right-most circle is a tad under 6 ft at best when the drawing shows approximately 8. The others are smaller too but not as...

    Finally Digging in League City!!!

Been going crazy trying to validate the paint on my grass vs the agreed to drawing. Probably worried too much about it, but some aspects of the layout do not really match the design and finally they are coming back out tomorrow to discuss this issue. After all, once it's built, We'll have to...

    Test Kit/No Pool

Another thing I should probably tell you is that the reason I'm waiting on the dig is that we have family coming from Denmark and we don't want a hole in our backyard while the kids are here. It would make it a little more hazardous. Sure it makes the anticipation draw out, but it will be worth...

    Test Kit/No Pool

Thanks everyone! I certainly look forward to learning and implementing. One of my friends' pool is always feeling rough on the skin. The other I've been in a couple of times but I doubt I'd get in it again as he doesn't maintain it well enough. We certainly put a lot of trust in public and...
