    Polaris 280 K30 or K25 O-ring size

For the Polaris 280. Dose anyone know what size O-ring comes with the K30 Feed Pipe or the K25 "Jets", called the Water Management System? Both parts are sold with the O-ring, but I only need the O-ring. And I believe both parts use the same O-ring.

    Bi-Carb Startup

Unfortunately, most homeowners are not going to venture the hassle of a Bi-carb Start-up. But yes, we have done them and we definitely recommend them! If it was my pool plaster, there is no way I would not do one.

When will plaster dust go away?

Que or Hal, Welcome to TFP. We performed our first Bicarb Start-up in July of 2007. Took a lot of convincing and hand holding with the pool owner for him to let us do it. Do believe it was the first Bicarb Start-up to have been done in San Jose CA. After the pool was filled I held my breath...

    Acid turns yellow when added

Hypobromous acid...thanks for explaining Richard. I have seen this happen in above ground spas, where the elevated bromine levels were giving false high PH readings and acid was mistakenly added. The result was red/orange/brown colored water that did not disapate until soda bicarb was introduced.

Noob question when it comes to pool sweeps

Yes you will need a booster pump. Here is a good story for you that's right up your alley. 8-) We picked up a new client today that has a fiberglass pool. Leslies sold him a Polaris 3900. The 3900 is of the same design as the Polaris 380/360...shorter wheel base. This 3900 was not cleaning...

Noob question when it comes to pool sweeps

Suction side pool sweeps and redwood trees do not mix well. A pressure side pool sweep would do best. Since you also have a fiberglass pool, a polaris 280 would work best since it has a longer wheel base so it grips and travels better over the slicker fiberglass surface compared to a 380. Now...

Bad CYA rumors real or some other reason for CYA not rising?

I think you need to start bottling your pool water and selling it! I have a bunch of pools I need to lower the CYA level on. :-D

River Rok pool is Green, not blue!

Bruce, I get so stoked when I read your posts, because you are a builder who gets it! I wish more builders would take an interest in the final water color of a clients pool. Because I think in the end, that's what it really boils down to. This has always been one of my biggest pet peeves with...

Ozone is a nice option to have

To add a little something, I have talked to some close friends of mine who also own pool services. Combined, we are servicing over 1000 residential pools. And all of us agree, that we see nothing different going on in pools when ozonators are disconnected.

Best way to lower TA in a 4 day Pebble tec pool

Brother...you are dead on accurate here. I can't believe how many customers want a sandy bottom "blue" pool. And as you have shown, they do not exist. Sometimes I have to acutally drive customers over to these green tinted pools to show them. And so far, all of them have said "oh that's not what...

First backwash-is this DE in the water now?

Any DE would normally be on the bottom of the pool and not be suspended in the water...unless you stirred it up while swimming.

Newly plaster pool with plaster dust sticking to plaster

Your going to be spinning your wheels in trying to lower the PH to have any effect. As mentioned, a no drain acid wash maybe helpful, but I would check with your plaster co. As far as the plaster co throwing in a hose and leaving you with some start-up directions, that is pretty much par for the...

Newly plaster pool with plaster dust sticking to plaster

A fuctcional main drain is a must for a new plaster start-up, especially if there is a lot of plaster dust. I think you are going to be stuck with the stuck on plaster dust. You might want to check with the plaster co to see if an acid wash would do any good.

Using sodium bromide along with chlorine

Re: Help me get clear water- what am I missing? Yellow Out is not sodium bromide. And I also agree with the consensus...sodium bromide is a good alternative when cya levels are high.

    Intellichlor IC-40 "Check flow/pcb" message

What I am not seeing in your above story is any mention of a filter cleaning(s). Dropping phosphates by 1000 on two different occations must have incurred some filter cleanings. So with that being said, are you saying that your check flow light went out before you cleand the now dirty filter...

    BBB weekly?

That's about right on the Ph. I've noticed a Ph rise from 7.4 to 8.0+ in a week. Can't tell you how much over 8.0 at this point. The TA is probably around 50 to 70 now with the last addition of a gallon+ of acid. It would sure be nice to cut that acid demand. The 3' waterfall drop from the spa...

    BBB weekly?

Thanks for the response. Even after turning down the SWG % of chlorine to zero, the Ph rise continues. TA is 90, CYA is 70. The PH rise is going to be the hard part using once a week numbers. So it will be a while in getting the Ph#'s to you. Thanks

Accuracy strips vs. drops (TDS & Salt)

I have also used the AquaChek Pro ll strips on a freshly filled SWG pool and found the same "off the chart" TDS reading. It makes sence now, thanks for sharing.

Trying to weigh cost of bleach vs. SWG

There are some characteristics about Morgan Hill that need to be considered. It gets hot there. Its an agricultural area with large areas of open ground. And it's windy, especially in the late afternoon. Add that all together, and a 2ppm FC loss for that area is not all that uncommon.

    No Chlorine, AGAIN

This ^ is some great advice you have received. But my question is...what happened when the Goldline Tec was there to check things out? Did he confirm that the unit was producing chlorine? I agree, your warrenty after three seasons has probably expired. You should check on this PRONTO :!:

How Does Chlorine Safely React w/ Ammonia in a Pool?

Thanks for your take on the subject. I will have to add "jets" to my list. Of all the rashes I have personally known about, and after further investigation, urine was introduced into the spa.

How Does Chlorine Safely React w/ Ammonia in a Pool?

Great website! You guys are way ahead of the curve. You even leave most of the pool industry in the dust. I have a question that I have always wondered about and I think relates to this subject. I know of a few instances where bathers have developed rashes from using their spa. These were in...
