aqualink with pda-ps4 combo not fully controlling jandy lx...

So the heater works - when the filter pump is on, the heater will fire if the water temp is below that which the heater thermostat is seeking based on my settings. As a manually operated/analog thing, that's fine. but... we have the jandy aqualink with the blue pda-ps4 type COMBO running...

sometimes it's the simple things... sometimes it's not. I gotta remember to always check the simplest things first.

it was water pressure... and the problem was that one of the black wires leading to the switch had a badly made connection with a standard twistcap connector. I was just checking all the connections after determining proper voltage here and there... and suddenly I had 28v on one side of this...

There is PLENTY of pressure by this test. thanks. - - - Updated - - - Richard: I saw that in the service manual you posted... I also found what appears to be the right manual for this particular (older) LX heater here...

600 gallons of diesel per day? sheesh... you gotta be a Saudi prince to have that not seem crazy...

Got it - but how would one know if in fact it's the water flow itself? I mean - is there a separate way to test that? It only takes a couple psi to shove the plunger in the switch so it makes contact and opens the circuit, right? So am i right in that pretty much any positive flow should kick...

oh man... this is a burger-man's town. I don't think you'd be the first to make a trip for that alone. GOTTA go to the original Tommy's at beverly and rampart in the 'hood there. It is a shack at the side of a parking lot that hasn't closed (literally) since like 1948 and has spawned dozens of...

thanks Richard! I have the older version - the LX, but it seems most if not all of it is the same. I hope the pressure switch hasn't migrated... Gonna pull it apart tomorrow (before watching MotoGP from Indianapolis!!)

    the joy of pool ownership...

HA! Well... i like my burgers messy, so in n' out isn't my first choice when I really wanna go for it. BUT, their stuff is good because it's as fast as big chain fast food but isn't reconstituted frozen byproducts etc. That's why people like it (in general) . The shakes are made with milk and...

    the joy of pool ownership...

We have used our "pool guy" only because I kept forgetting to do it -- not because it's difficult. The pool is out there - and not used much at all - and so it's too easy to let the maintainence slide. When my kids were younger this was something I took care of because i wanted it exactly...

This thing has been driving me crazy. It's fine... then I go away and my wife tries to heat the spa and.. it's not fine. I am starting to think it's personal. Like CHRISTINE the killer car. argh. So we have a properly functioning pool system (it seems) in all other ways. Diatomacious earth...

    the joy of pool ownership...

...somewhere just south of boat ownership, is my guess. We've had a pool for 10 years since we built our house. I think it has maybe been used 40 times... It's on an automated system so the pump runs a couple hours a day, and we have a pool guy once a week who just deals with the chem and...
