Need advice on new motor H.P. (zapped by lightening!)

Hi, Any advice on hp needed for 27' round 17500gal. filter is a hayward sand holding 200lbs. I replaced the pump before with a 1.5hp and I'm not sure if the pool originally came with a 1 or 1.5hp. Would a 1hp do the trick? (cheaper and uses less energy?) Thanks Geo

    When to run pump

I have read all the post i can find on pump run time. Could not find the answer to these questions: Should run time be split or continuous? Is it better to run pump during the day vs. night or does it not matter?

    DPD powder shelf life

Idea: The DPD powder can be sensitive to moisture/ humidity during storage. If yours is not in a desiccant jar, go to a local miracle-ear and purchase a hearing aid drying jar which includes a desiccant pillow which may be refreshed in a microwave when saturated. You can place the powder jar...

Liquid bleach for wood deck cleaning?

Hi all, :?: Has anyone used chlorine bleach and soap to clean a wood deck? When I do a net search, all articles seem to say that it's bad for the wood. Of course those articles are usually attached to an ad for deck cleaning chemicals. This seems reminiscent of the typical pool supply stance...

A hint on buying bleach at Walmart

This is probably a no brainer for everyone but I'll mention it anyway. I've purchased large quantities of bleach from Wallmart 3X. Each time, they were more than willing to go into the stock room to pull full cases for me. They put them on a cart which I wheeled right to my SUV. It was very...

best type for a 27 round AGP. what are the options?

Hi folks, Tried one of the suction and release type 6-7 years ago... the type that "hops" around the pool. It got stuck behind the pool steps and stayed in one place all night. It literally sucked a hole in my liner the size of a quarter. Could not patch properly due to sand loss underneath, so...

Beware! Math on liquid Chlor. % from pool store.

Hi everyone, I purchased some liquid chlor in in a 5 gallon container from the pool store. At 16.99 for 5gal., it seemed a good deal esp. for ease of handling. After learning that the 12.5 degrades quickly, I wondered about the age of what I bought. So I did the math. Someone please correct me...

Liquid-chlor from pool store...Likely to have degraded?

Hi, I bought 12.5 liquid chlor in 5gal container for 16.99 to do my baqua-chlor. conversion. That equates to a price of about 1.69/gal for store bleach. I've read on this forum that 12.5% will degrade faster than 6%. What is the likelihood that the pool store containers have been around a long...

Previous Baqua-apostle now converting.... Here I GO!

Hello all, I've been using Baquacil or equiv. in my pool for about 8yrs. It was wonderful at first. Actually I had 6 good years with it. At first, I used to think it was the best thing since sliced bread. By the way I preached the wonders of BQ, you'd have thought I owned majority stock! I...
