20 year old pool, valve handles are breaking in half, and modern replacements are 90 degrees off.

My handles are breaking after 20 years in the sun: And the flat spot of modern handles are off by 90 degrees. Anyone got a source for old style valve handles? Thanks in advance. I want "ON" to be in line with the pipe valve, not looking closed when open. Rich

Is my pump going or bad impeller?

My pump is making a sort of rattling noise, my salt cell has an air bubble in it, and small bubbles are coming out of the jets. I suspect it is the pump, tried to upload a short video, but I guess it was not short enough. Do I need to do the impeller at the same time, regardless?

Partial collapse in deep end of vinyl pool

Just noticed this today. My vinyl pool has suffered a partial collapse in the ramp area of the deep end. About 2 feet long, 1 edge is a bit sharp, but liner has not torn yet. Pool is 16 years old, liner about 4 years old. Bottom is built upon Georgia red clay, with a thin layer of, I think...

SWG Temp stuck at 77 degrees...reads low salt

Anyone seen their SWG water temp get "frozen" at a particular reading? It's been reading 77 since I started looking again last week. Water temp was 58 at the time. Warmer now, (Seems a lot warmer to the touch, but only 61 by thermometer). Salt is reading 1900 at the SWG, correct reading by...

Pump sounds like a piece of plastic is bouncing around, no water movement

Guys, my wife pointed out the pump was making a funny noise...I said "The pump is not even on", as water in the pool was still. Cleaned the pump basket, and after restarting, there was no customary rush of bubbles into the basket, and the noise persisted. After shutting down the pump, you...

Drain cover loose - how to repair?

Hey, one of 2 screws in my floor drain cover has come loose, and my drain is now partially exposed, like a crescent moon. To repair, does one just dive down multiple times, to assess, and then put in a new screw? Would a pool company use scuba equipment for such a repair? Or is the official...

Can a Spider Gasket/Multiport Valve cause air bubbles

I have been searching on this site, and it seems the experts here conclude that it is not possible for air bubbles to originate on the "pressure" side of the pump, which would include the filter and spider valve. I submit my symptoms/diagnostic tests to you: In "Filter" mode, air bubbles can...

Ants killed my pump again...replacement ideas?

Well, it happened to me for the second time....ants built a mound into my 1hp pool pump. It was tripping the breaker. I cleaned away the mound and got the ants out of the electronics and now I get the dreaded hum, but not starting. I also blasted water into the vent openings to clear out the...

How to judge when to replace vinyl liner

My pool is now in its 9th year, close to the liner lifetime. I have a couple of symptoms for your consideration: 1. "Squishy spots" in the deep end, on the angled portion just below the straight wall. You can feel them now for the last year or so. They do not appear to be growing, are they...

    Filter aids during AA treatment

Reading the labels of 2 Ascorbic acid treatments, both recommended adding a "Filter Aid" to the filter before treating. I have seen no mention of such in this thread. Surely someone read the directions on the bottle? I can only assume this is that missing piece to filter out the...

Aqua Rite - low salt reading despite new cell

Hey, I have the same problem, looks to be something rare: Pool built in 2003, on my second board after lightning strike long ago. Pool reads 1800. Actual level is 3200ppm. Cleaned Cell. Still 1800. Ordered new cell. Still 1800. Had replacement for new cell. 1800. Fixed original board...
