Hi all, hopefully someone here knows what this thing i broke is. It was leaking water, so i unscrewed it, added some plumbers tape, screwed it back and and then the cap broke because it's old and brittle apparently. I have no idea with this thing is. It sits on the concrete next to my steps...

I'm stumped. Pool has been open for a few weeks. SLAMmed the heck out of it for a week - blue, but hazy water. This then made the liner turn orange / brown (too much chlorine I guess) so I did the ascorbic acid treatment. This got rid of the brown stain. Gradually brought all the chemicals back...
