    Installed Circupool VJ-1

I installed my Circupool VJ-1, 3 speed pump today. I also installed the Circupool RJ30+ chlorine generator this past week. The only challenging part of the install was the fact That the original plumbing was built so tight that you could not just trim the pipe and use a standard pipe coupling...

    Circupool RJ30+ Install

Finished installing my new Circupool RJ30+ SWG today. It works! Pretty slick looking unit. It has some feature that I just discovered. Instantaneous salt concentration +- 10 ppm and water temperature. The temp is currently 76F and 3040 ppm salt. My Taylor salt test kit says 3200 ppm. 200...

    FC level changes

Currently I use bleach and pool math recommends FC = 4-8 ppm. If i switch to a SWG pool math recommends 2-8 ppm. Why does the minimum FC decrease? I have my pool chemistry under control using TFP methods, just looking for more convenience switching to SWG.

    SWG output compared to bleach

I may install a new pump and SWG next week. I know that 24oz of 8.25% bleach raises my FC 1 ppm. how does that compare to pounds of chlorine that the SWG produces?

    Over sized pumps

Today I installed a FloVis flow meter at the pump discharge. 85 GPM @ 12.5 psig. At that flow rate my pool turns over in less than 3 hours. The motor is rated at 3 HP. Its safe to say that this pump is over sized. I see a two speed pump in my future.

    Polaris 3900 back up valve

I just replaced the backup valve on my Polaris 3900. The old one did not function and the cleaner would spend a lot of time stuck at the steps or shells. The new on works properly and what a difference in performance. Apparently the mechanism in the old unit was stuck and was restricting the...

    Pool Math conflict

I have been using the Pool Math online application on my iPad for quite some time. Very helpful in understanding the chemistry relationships. This morning the app recommended (in the pink section) that I add 97 oz of MA to drop pH from 8.2 to 7.6. At the bottom of the app (Effects of adding...

    Pool light bulbs

I was looking at the LED bulbs that mount in the underwater fixtures. Imagine my surprise when I saw that they cost hundreds of dollars. I don't understand what is so special about these led spotlights. I looked at some of the YouTube bulb changing videos and it looks like a lot of these...

    Newbie Chemical Balance Question

I have been lurking and reading all I can on how to maintain my pool. We recently bought this house with a pool and I have never had one to take care of. I have been taking a sample to the pool store and they test the water for free. Note that I always leave with instructions to buy this or...
