Pool Build Finally Started - Bryan, TX (11/4/20)

I think they normally order "extra" but the contract will state what is to be installed. I think it would be a courtesy to leave some behind for future repair needs, but that is probably up to the builder. They get a credit for returning unused material and that is part of their profit margin. I...

    Pool Resurfacing

There was a thread not long ago about possibly using pool decals for stair markers, but I am not sure what products are available.

    VSP for Water Feature

We like it for that and because we do not always want the bubbler and the sheer descent waterfalls all going. If I am only running the bubbler the flow rate needs to be lower or it will shoot 5 feet in the air, lol

    VSP for Water Feature

I am not sure if it is bad thing or not, but we have a VS900 Hayward for our water features. I do like that I can adjust the water features with the variable speed. We have enough pump power to run the VS at 15-1600 RPM

    Pool Resurfacing

I don't think I would let them cut my new plaster. I have heard lots of times how bad it looks when they have to do patches to plaster and would be afraid they would mess something up and need to do repairs.

My "New" Pool in SCHERTZ, TX

I have about 100 pieces of travertine in the garage from when they cut ours. I plan on having a travertine path from the patio to the equipment pad when we put the yard back together.

Gunite mistake on shelf/ledge depth - what are my remedies?

I thought of this too, but the problem is raising the beam will not change the level of the skimmer baskets.

Newbie building pool in Dallas - looking for insights

I can't hear my pump running from inside the house unless it is running 100%. When we first started the pool I was concerned about the same thing because the builder had both pumps running 100% and we could hear it in the house. Now that the pool is established and running a normal schedule the...

Gunite mistake on shelf/ledge depth - what are my remedies?

I would be skeptical of having the cold joint in the pool shell with doing it this way. I know it can be done, but it can also fail later if not 100% perfect.

New construction in Houston, Tx ** Trying to complete punch list**

We used the new ones last night for the first time and there is a night and day difference. These jets do a much better job at dispersing the air bubbles and produce better water jets than the big ones.

New Fiberglass install in Clarksville TN (Dig started Nov 16, 2020)

Glad the problem was found early in the process instead of later on when it could have required major repairs

Gunite mistake on shelf/ledge depth - what are my remedies?

That would be a no go for me, it seems like a bad idea to compromise the shell of the pool to correct their mistake. I think the only recourse you really have here will be to find some way to be happy with what you have. The builder needs to give a sizable discount for the error as well.

Another The Woodlands, TX Build - Finishing touches

Looks Beautiful! What will you be doing for the landscaping? We still need to decide on what to do along our back fence too, but I am considering waiting until spring at this point.

New Fiberglass install in Clarksville TN (Dig started Nov 16, 2020)

Even my gunite pool ended up having some flex used in the plumbing for the spa loop. But where possible I would try to make sure they are using rigid pipe.

How difficult is that to take care of? I was under the impression that a few minutes every so often with a scrub brush ad some acid would get rid of calcium

Pool Build Finally Started - Bryan, TX (11/4/20)

Is it the camera angle, or is that second step wider than all the others? If so, was that what you expected? Also, are they putting edge tiles on the steps to make them more visible for people who are not used to the step layout?

    New Build in Austin, Texas

Mine is the same and when we discussed the automation the build said I needed 3 actuators to control everything. I told him I thought we needed more because we wanted to control the bubbler, the waterfalls, or both, plus we wanted to have a pool mode, a spa mode, and a spillway mode. Everyone...

UT New Build - Update (start up 5/21)

If I knew more about lighting prior to starting on my build I would have gone with several of the nicheless lights instead of the regular niche style that I ended up with. To me it seems like you would get more even lighting around the pool with those and it is great that you are not stuck with...

New Fiberglass install in Clarksville TN (Dig started Nov 16, 2020)

Also, a few other things. It looks like the corner of the pool shell is damaged at the bottom of the pic, what are they doing about that, or is it just the way it looks? Are they planning to do the plumbing with flex pipe instead of rigid? I see a roll of the wrong type material against the fence.

    New Build in Austin, Texas

I agree, 3 returns will not be enough unless you plan to leave the spillway from the spa on all the time. Also, I highly recommend putting in writing exactly what you expect the automation to be able to control. I told my builder that my wife wanted to be able to control the water features and...

UT New Build - Update (start up 5/21)

I bought waterproof cover for it on Amazon. If we know it is going to rain I put an extra painters canvas tarp over the cover because I am not sure I trust it. I plan on building or ordering a better cover. There is one called Storm Shell that looks pretty good, but they are pricey...
