    AquaPod Remote Control

Thought I would update the thread. Turns out it was a faulty antenna. Replaced that and everything was right with the world.

    AquaPod Remote Control

They are factory sealed and the remote is only 2 months old. One thing I thought was dumb is the user can't change the batteries.

    AquaPod Remote Control

I have a OnCommand system and the AquaPod remote control. It has worked fine for the last two months. Came home today and it can't find the wireless has station. Tried teaching the remote again and it worked, then it goes to sleep and loses its connection again. Anyone have any tricks or...

I guess AutoPilot doesn't want to put writable media in their equipment. Although, I'd be happy if they put in an internal battery. That's totally worth the extra $3 if it in act loses memory. Of course, I'm very curious so I am going to cut the power for 12 hours (my normal off cycle) and see...

    Best SWG recommendations

I don't know if the settings are actually lost if power is off for too long on the AutoPilot, I might have to experiment. However, it makes sense what he said since there is no internal battery. I've heard of this explosion rumor too but I googled it and really couldn't find anything relevant...

    Best SWG recommendations

So in theory I agree. I called AutoPilot to get their take and they claim they have never heard of any gas build up explosions happening with any of their gear. Honestly the tech seemed knowledgeable but quite baffled by my question. He also said turning the power off for any length of time...

My AutoPilot has a flow sensor so when the flow stops from the pump, the AutoPilot shuts of the cell. You will see an error on the AutoPilot to check flow but it works like a champ. That is how AutoPilot tech support suggested i set it up. My VS pump is on a timer via the Hayward OnCommand...

    Best SWG recommendations

I generally run my Hayward EcoStar VS pump at 2000 RPMs just to maintain decent skimmer action. I have an AutoPilot and running around 1500 RPMs wasn't an issue for the salt/chlorine but again, skimmer action was mediocre so I run it a little higher. I have two skimmers at each end of the pool...

    Hayward Max-flo VS vs tristar

As a side note we have a 24" water feature and we have it programmed through the automation system to kick the speed up of the Eco-star pump when we turn that on and it works great. Great points on aback though. I pay close to .08 cents for electricity in our state.

    Hayward Max-flo VS vs tristar

For what it's worth I have an Eco-Star and I love it. The speed flexibility and how quiet it runs is amazing. Hayward has an excellent app for iOS devices to help show you savings based on your electric rates and different speeds, etc... It's actually a well done app comparing single stage, 2...

    Evaporation

Thanks Dave. Is there a rule of thumb calculation how much water it would take to bring the pool back up to a certain level?

    Chemical Solar Covers

Has anyone used these so called chemical solar covers? I guess there are the Solar Pill and some liquid stuff that you add to the water. Any pros or cons? Any concerns with water chemistry or anything along those lines?

    Evaporation

I know this is a difficult question to answer but I figured its worth a forum shot. Our IG, vinyl pool is in direct sun here in Connecticut. It was recently built and filled about 2 weeks ago for the first time. We have had some dry spells and some rain over the last few weeks but the water...

    Salt System Question

If I adjust the output purifier power on my Auto Pilot salt system how long does it take to get an accurate FC reading so I can tell what impact the adjustments had? Assuming I keep the filter pump run time the same I am trying to nail down my FC. This is a new pool filled a few weeks ago. Salt...

Calculate GPMs for Variable Speed Pump

I have a Hayward EcoStar Variable speed pump and I can't find any specs in the manual regarding GPMs. I know there are other factors that can play into this calculation. I am trying to figure out how long I need to run the pump to turn over 23000 gallons of water in one day with the least amount...

    Chemicals hurting liners

My pool is getting a new 27 mil Pacific liner today. Pool guy is telling me we have to use his brand of chemicals to ensure no damage to the liner. He is also telling me using any other brand or generics voids the liner warranty. Is there any truth to that? Sounds like a sales scam to me but has...

need a recommendation on a new variable speed pump

I went with a Hayward EcoStar VS simply because the control panel could be mounted on the wall. Also, they are extremely quiet but I'd have to think the Pentair is too.

    Are Borates Safe to Use?

So there is a lot of scientific data but I'd like to know if anyone in this forum has had any health issues with their dogs after adopting this method? I have a 100 pound lab who loves to swim, but doesn't drink the water from the pool intentionally. I am sure he gets water in his mouth from...

New question about recurring "metal" staining

Once in awhile the well company comes out and they use a TDS meter. I wonder if that would work well for the pool. I believe it measures all disolvable solids such as iron.

New question about recurring "metal" staining

Yes, I have found Pool School. The site is a great resource. All the chemistry to pool maintenance seems a bit overwhelming. I am assuming there is a test kit to measure metals in water, any kind recommended?

New question about recurring "metal" staining

I am a new pool owner and I understand at times I will need to fill the pool. My concern is I live with a well system and we have high soluable iron in our water. We do have a softener in the house but should I take precautions when filling the pool? Perhaps additional testing or any additives...

    High Water Table

Thank you. There will only be skimmers in the pool, no drain in the deep end. I don't know if that is right or wrong but he feels adding an additional skimmer is better than having a drain in the deep end.

    High Water Table

First time poster here. My pool builder started building our pool in the fall of 2012 and it seems like there is a lot of water filling into the hole they have dug for our pool. It can fill up 2 - 3 feet per day in the deep end if left un-pumped. They dropped a temp pump in the deep end and...
