    IG Negative Edge Closing

Thanks. I can definitely ensure the valve for the sheer will stay closed. Trying to think how I’d blow it out. I see the Jandy actuator valve on top. I’m assuming if I unbolt actuator valve assembly from the plumbing body I can access the pipe and blow it out that way.

    IG Negative Edge Closing

Living in North Carolina most people leave their pools open year round as I understand it. I have two water features I’m a little concerned with 1) is a 3’ sheet descent. 2) is a 12’ negative (infinity) edge that spills over into a smaller pool. The PB told me to keep them on their normal...

    Chlorine Reducer

There’s 60ppm of CYA but it worked itself out. You were right, it was at about 5.5 when I got home.

    Chlorine Reducer

A service tech has been servicing my pool for the last few weeks since it’s a new pool. They want to own the chems for the first 30 days while it cures. I know my way around pools thanks to TFP the last few years. I measured my free chlorine last night and it was up around 8ppm. So, I told the...

Infinity edge suction line is 3", no idea what the flow rate is or should be. I did find this in the pump manual.

    PB Plumbing Debate New Construction

I hope that is the case and others agree. Honestly I am an extremist, doomsday scenario kind of guy lol. Also, I am HIGHLY annoyed they tried to pull a fast one. Thank you for the input.

    PB Plumbing Debate New Construction

First, I have missed this forum and I am happy to say my new pool is almost complete so I will be living here again. Sadly I just realized an issue with my pool. The PB sold me on 2" plumbing for all 3 returns...GREAT! In actuality he installed a 2" line then used a 2" to 1 1/2" Tee and ran...

Algae growing with balanced pool water

Definitely agree and I tossed in a container of 8.25% bleach last night which should bump my FC to about 9 or 10ppm. Like you said, watching FC levels closely and I agree just some crevice areas probably not getting hit with my vac. I scrubbed the pool good last night, ran the pump and SWG...

Algae growing with balanced pool water

So I am a bit baffled whats going on with my pool. I keep finding traces of algae in the crevice areas that my robot pool vacuum has a hard time getting too. My specs are below and I am confused why algae is growing in the first place since FC has been perfect for my SWG pool. Water is crystal...

Safe Free Chlorine Levels for swimming?

So in my situation the pool chems are below. What I would like to know is it safe for my family and pets to swim (FC 15ppm CYA 70) or do I need to wait for it to come down and if so what level is safe for swimming? And I am sure you're wondering how my FC climbed so high and that's because I...

    Solar pool covers

Great, thanks for information. Any help with pool water evaporation? And for clarity, you like the clear type over the blue? What mil thickness do you use?

    Solar pool covers

Hey forum, Thinking about buying a solar blanket, cover, fancy bubble wrap for my IG pool. Curious, any experiences with the different mil sizes and have they ever blown away on anyone? I get some decent winds at my house and I don't want to see my new bubble wrap blow away...ha ha. How...

Leaving cover on during startup (opening)

Sorry for the confusion, using the word shock in terms of a higher percentage of sodium hypochlorite, not in the sense that I have algae or any other visible issues. I will test the FC before I actually add the pool shock. I just bought shock this year because it was on sale and cheaper than...

Leaving cover on during startup (opening)

Every year I get pool fever around this time to open so I can get things balanced before the warm weather really hits. However, I have one tree that spins off tons of helicopter leaves in the coming weeks. Clogging the skimmers. Temperatures are rising fast and I am concerned (like I am every...

Hints of Algae...do I go to a full SLAM assault?

Good morning forum, Checked on our IG SWG pool this morning and I saw just a touch of algae on the ladder. Chems have been consistent and I will post below. The CYA dropped to 55ppm with the recent rain but I have adjusted for that over the last few days and I am sure it will be climbing as...

Is it normal to have air built up at the filter relief valve

So I have cleaned my DE filter a few times. Perfect article, thank you. However, since my last cleaning I seem to always have air built up at the filter pressure relief valve when I open it. Only takes about 3 seconds and air is replaced by water. Is it normal to have air built up at the filter...

    Do I need a robot?

I leave mine in during the week and it cleans every other day or whatever program I prefer. Once it's filled/dirty, I clean the filters. This vac tells you when to rinse the filters or I do it once a week for good measure. I usually pull it out on Friday nights since the family uses the pool...

    Do I need a robot?

I have a Dolphin Supreme M5....and I love it. I bought it refurbished on Ebay last year with a remote and caddy (which saved me hundreds) and it's great. I have never once pulled out my pool hose and vacuumed the pool manually, NEVER. My pool sparkles brilliantly and the chems are perfectly...

    Salt testing question

My two cents, I personally love having the Taylor K-1766 kit on hand. I do find from time to time to be a small difference from my AutoPilot SWG and the actual Taylor readings. If you are a purist, like many of us are here, I would get the kit. Comes in especially handy when opening the pool...

    Adding chemicals at once?

I was thinking about leaving the TA alone but seemed a smidge low for TFP SWG recommended levels.

    Adding chemicals at once?

I need to add some CYA to my SWG , vinyl liner pool to bring up my level. I also need to add some baking soda to bring up my TA a smidge. PH is good at 7.6. Always wondered, whats the best order to add these and can I add baking soda and CYA at the same time or should I wait between? I know CYA...
