    Low TA. closing soon

My TA may have been a little low all summer while my PH kept going from 7.4/7.6 to 7.8 within a week (using 2 gal of 12.5% liquid). I kept bringing it down with aquachem "PH down". TF kits had my TA at a 100 while Leslie's and others had it as low as 60. Today my TF reading is around 50-60 (50...

    Should I drain some water?

I have a cartridge filter and don't have backwash / discharge hose I found cheaper and faster solution - two pool vacuum hoses. Sucked the air out on one side using wet vac, other side in the pool through the skimmer opening (so it doesn't suck too much water out). draining speed is amazing...

    Should I drain some water?

I have an in-ground pool and my water level is at the edge of the cooping due to heavy rain. According to forecast the rain may continue for the next couple of days. should I drain some water? I'm afraid once the water gets over the edge all the dirt around the pool are will end up in my...

    cracks in grout

Pool was built late 2004, first used in 2005. I have a couple spots like that so far. Should I caulk it now or can it wait until more fall out? Also, is vulkem 45 ssl ok to use for this? only a couple. I also have some cracks in my cooping (attached). I wonder if that's because the expansion...

    Problem adjusting PH

I think I may have figured it out. It seems like liquid chlorine has a Ph at 13. If so, how do I calculate how much Ph I'm adding with 1 gallon of chlorine?

    Problem adjusting PH

I don't know the difference between muriatic acid and "Ph down" products, but I got my aqua chem "Ph down" from target when they had it on clearance, $2 for 5LB, which I figured is pretty cheap. I'll have to read up on this - know nothing about it. But first I want to make sure my TA is within...

3-4 times. Every single time I get 10 drops Don't have that We did have a few rains this season, but I thought rain brings Ph down, not up.

    Problem adjusting PH

I tried adjusting PH 3-4 times this season, but it climbs back to 7.8 in a couple of days. My TF kit from last year shows TA at 100. Leslies Taylor 70, 80, 90 (depending on the store). I found a Leslies employee I like and watched her do it twice - both times I counted 7 drops myself. I keep...

Gap between concrete and pool border

Another question - the joint on the first set of pictures is about 3-5 inches deep, filled with the backer rod or whatever that foam like material is called. I read somewhere someone fill it with sand. Is that the right approach, maybe with backer rod on top? Or should I just get backer rod...

mixing chemicals faster by blowing the bottom drain?

Guys who closed my pool mixed shock by blowing the bottom drain. Some chemicals, like PH Down require 2 hours to circulate before you can add other chemicals or test PH level again. I believe some other chemicals require even more time. I don't know if it takes hours to dissolve or mix or...

Gap between concrete and pool border

It looks like part of my deck has moved, but I can't say when it started moving and whether it's still moving. This deck was build about 6 years ago. Attached are some more pictures with questions embedded. Thanks

    Anchor solid pool cover patch

I have a few holes in my cover. Some are like quarter slots while others are smaller and round. Pool stores sell 3M and Merlin patches for around $50-70 which are about 6x10 and are not self stick. I think it's a bit expensive and I'm sure the same material can be found for a lot less...

Pool opening. What order the chemicals need to be added?

Interesting thing - according to aqua chem test kit PH is at 7.6 or so, while Taylor now shows 8.2, maybe even 8. I ran pump for a few hours. Both kits were purchased last year

Pool opening. What order the chemicals need to be added?

Chlorine 0 PH 8.2 or more TA100 Calcium 500-600 CYA 70 (not 100% positive on this one. Will need to get supplies and test again) the test kit is from last year. Pool was opened 4 hours ago and pump was running for about 2 hours What do I need to do first, add chlorine or lower PH? Thanks

Pool opening. What order the chemicals need to be added?

I can't find a post which explained which chemicals need to be added and in what order. I remember seeing one, but can't find it anymore. I remember it mentioned the order in which chemicals need to be added and the intervals. I'm about to open my pool and I have FT-100 from last year which...

Gap between concrete and pool border

Thank you. Vulkem 45 is significantly more expensive then the other two. Is there a reason why? Also, I have no idea how many OZ I need and wonder how to figure that out. Thanks
