    Closing for Winter

Yah, now that we are closing on Friday, it's gonna be in the mid-80's here this weekend! Water is kinda cold though. We might be in an area where leaving it open all year is possible - would need a leaf cover I guess.

    Closing for Winter

Thanks WAste! We're good to go then. We have a cute little pump :whoot: that we hook up after every rainfall. Richmond says :handwave: to you too! Summer was way too short this year

    Closing for Winter

I am about to close my 7600 gallon pool - how much of that Polyquat should I use? I shocked and am balancing and then adding polyquat and then shocking again before Friday morning. Can I just pour in the whole quart of this stuff?? thanks

Need some suggestions or ideas ...

We found the air pillow in the middle made it so we had to move the pump 3 or 4 times every time it rained. Leaves aren't too bad here. I was thinking one puddle in the middle would be easier to care for, I hear that it might be more pressure on the walls - we'd need to be quick about removing...

Need some suggestions or ideas ...

We used an air pillow last year, but it was a bit of a pain, everytime it rained we had several puddles to drain off. We wondered this year about forgoing the pillow and just having one middle puddle when it rains, that we can then siphon off quickly as we have a little pump and hose set up for...

    Best AG pool?

We have a Vogue Atrium and find it to be well made. It looks better than some of the other pools I've seen as well.

    Why Shock?

These are great explanatons and really do help us newer folks......but how do you know if you have algae in the first place. I check my ph and chlorine every few days, I rarely have any CC and I haven't actually had to add anything in a few weeks. funny when I have my water checked at the pool...

    Dogs... (posts split from MOLES)

Oh my yes, this would be just fine with her. This is the same dog that will sleep only on down pillows, anything else - she sticks her nose under and flips it onto the floor!

    Dogs... (posts split from MOLES)

Yes, but not by choice. She will go in if she is held or placed in a float. She doesn't mind it so much if she has her float or people ride, but hates to be made to swim. She sure can go from the far end to those stairs and climb out though! We generally only make her go in if it is very...

    Dogs... (posts split from MOLES)

Here's our little "Slate". Two year old mini-Schnauzer who absolutely hates the pool! Loves to hang out on the edge of the steps and watch us and hope for treats, but no actual contact with water. Her friend, a Westie, jumped into the pool and Slate was so jealous, she forgot herself and...

Unusual Chlorine Demand -- Peeing in the Pool

WELL now I need to think this one over........what am I doing wasting precious pool time by running out of the pool into the house every hour or so after quaffing my wine?? Or even with no wine, every hour or so seems to be the timing - must be a girl thing. Maybe we need to...

    HDTV

Well, got the HR 20 hooked up now and the older ones switched to bedrooms. Direct TV tells me I can get another HR 20 in 6 months for their approx. $20 handling fee. It will take a little getting used to the new remote, but overall the picture seems a little clearer and brighter and the...

    A.G. lighting - Suggestions?

The web has lots of options, including the floating green light that you just toss in. This one looks good too - it sits on the wall of the pool - http://www.smarthome.com/32429.html Our motion detector lights can be set to stay on and one of them lights up our pool.

Anyone else clean their pool using this technique?

We had a grandchild in the pool the other day and once she was finished doing all the cannonballs and jumping around, that big piece of bark I couldn't find after the last storm showed up front and center!

    Some comments on sand filters

What is the stuff pool stores sell you then that is liquid and you pour it slowly into the skimmer to "clean" the filter? Adding the solar salt has made a remarkable difference to the sparkling of our pool water. It has always been very clear, but slightly dull this year. The salt made the...

NEWBIE to the pool testing ... Help

I did this quite easily a few weeks ago. I put the vacuum head on its side at the bottom of the pool and set it on waster. Had the hose set up to add water at the top of the first step to the pool. It took about 3 hours to drain and refill, cya went from 90 to 60.

how to choose AGP?? (split from 'Hello in TN')

Our pool is a Vogue Atrium. Seems like a good quality with resin. It is only in it's second year. No issues with quality thus far. You can see a fair bit of it under Waterbug's pool in the show off your pool section. It has English instructions too! I think it's quite hilarious that we...

    FAS/DPD and TA test questions

okay, i guess I see that, but how does one know how pink is pink enough then? Just add one dipper full and if it pink start testing?

    FAS/DPD and TA test questions

Sorry i'm not understanding that. If I put in more of the stuff that makes it turn pink, does it not then take more of the drops to make it clear again and so your readings are off? If i put in less, then I have less drops to add and then my chlorine numbers are very low, put in more...

    FAS/DPD and TA test questions

Yes, but by adding more stuff to make it still pinker don't you need more reagent to turn the water clear again, and thus, affecting your numbers? Or does it only get so pink, so one scoop will do and the test results will equal the same whether you use one scoop or two?

    HDTV

Thanks for all the info. I called Direct TV again last night after reading some of the posts in the other forum, and this time, the person told me that the broadband converter thing would have no bearing on getting the new channels as the older machines don't have the proper software to bring...
