He has the Hot Springs Freshwater Salt system, not the Frog system. As long as the cartridge isn't defective (Hot Springs has an issue with them) it works but does seem to be more troublesome than the Saltron. Hopefully other HS owners can chime in here.

The Cover Guys make a great cover. Clean it and fill, test all functions. If all is well, do an ahh-some purge. Drain and refill. test water then balance it. Seeing as you have a pool, you have a good test kit.
