Pool green just a few days after cleaning/shocking

No, you do not have to drain the entire pool. To go from 150 ppm CYA to 50 CYA you need to replace 2/3 of your water. What kind of a pool surface do you have? Vinyl? If it is vinyl you cannot drain your pool down very far without risking the liner pulling away or wrinkling. You will have to...

    Magic Eraser

It looks like there are four varieties of Mr. Clean Magic Erasers--Original, Extra Power, Bath Scrubber, and Kitchen Scrubber. The Kitchen Scrubber version definitely has Dawn dish soap in it: http://www.mrclean.com/en_US/magic-eras ... crubber.do If you are using that one, that would for sure...

    Magic Eraser

I use Magic Erasers for my vinyl surface too. They are amazing, if not quite magic. If you are using the original Magic Eraser, there are no soaps/compounds at all in them. They are melamine foam and work by simple abrasion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melamine_foam

    White Water Mold

Before I converted my pool from Bacquacil to chlorine, I fought white water mold/pink slime for 4 years. I observed (at least in an anecdotal fashion) a relationship between my water temperature and white water mold blooms. My family and friends like to swim in very warm water (90-95 degrees)...

Pool water went milky immediately after adding sanitizer

Well, your description and picture is not consistent with white water mold. Strange, I don't know what would have cause it to immediately get milky. And the fact that is clears up quickly is another mystery. Are you adding anything else? Clarifier? Flocculent?

Pool water went milky immediately after adding sanitizer

Hi blessedmamato3, Can you post a picture of the "milky" water? When you say it "immediately" turns milky after adding sanitizer, how much time is that? I had four (bad) years using Bacquacil before switching to chlorine. I know a lot of the problems with it. Your CH isn't that high. Mine...

Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/mold!

Re: Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/m I would be interested to know what makes a pool safe to drain and what makes a pool not safe to drain. Why did your builder think it was safe to do so? As I said earlier in this thread, I probably could have saved a 100 bucks by...

Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/mold!

Re: Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/m Oh, and that water mold, pink slime is hiding everywhere in your pool. It is in your water lines, your pump, your filter, and behind any lights and steps you may have. It is nasty stuff. I couldn't believe how thick a mat of that...

Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/mold!

Re: Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/m Yes, if your water costs are low, I would seriously consider draining and refilling. It turns out I could have saved a lot of money doing so. My water costs 1/2 cent per gallon. So it would have only cost me 60 bucks to refill as...

Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/mold!

Re: Bacquacil Pool - want to convert but need help first w/m Last June I converted my Bacquacil Pool to Chlorine after 4 years of horrible water mold, nasty pink slime, and giving myself and lots of family and friends bad skin problems. My pool has been trouble free ever since thanks to this...
