    In-Wall Pool Ladder

I don't have an in ground- so take my opinion for what you paid for it ... . . My SIL has an inground and in 10 years has had two leaks. BOTH leaks were where the liner of her IG pool joins the fiberglass steps. She has NEVER had a rub through where the ladder hangs in the deep end. I...

Loss of pressure on this pipe

Plastic threads are notoriously harder to seal than metal. LOTS of tape. Put on what you think is enough, then do 4-5 more turns on all the threads just to be safe. Don't overtighten. A strong hand tight is plenty. Over tightening can cause leaks. You are putting the tape on clockwise...

    21ft or 24ft?

I have a 24 and that extra 1.5 feet all the way around makes a HUGE difference. I was in a friend's 18 and felt like I was in a bathtub. I say go as big as you can. But before you commit, do you want a deck around it? If so, what effect does that have on your setbacks? Might cause you some...

Thanks- did you order a size larger to give some room for the dish? Or did you order the size spec'd for your pool?

Questions on Deck around AG pool

KJ- thanks - I followed your build (last summer I think?) and enjoyed the pics. The pool wall is steel. But i didn't think there were galv. corrosion problems between aluminum and steel? Mom- thanks for the thoughts about frost heave, didn't really think of that- and it does freeze here. Do...

Questions on Deck around AG pool

Looking to build a deck around mine finally. Need to rebuild it first though. The plan is to tear it down at end of season, clean, inspect, and replace any rusted/ broken / needed parts. And reassemble. The main reason for this is to move the pump and filter to the opposite side of the pool...

    Gorilla Pad

Does anyone know if you can use Gorilla Pad in a round AG pool with a dished center? I am due for a liner replacement soon and would like to use this and foam cove instead of sand. But I'm not sure if it will pucker when i try to install it in the dished out center. The other option is to...

Bonding wire not found on equipment pad

Just because I'm interested in the topic . .. The following leads me to believe the NEC change was 2005. Which seems right according to my recollection of conversations with an electrician friend. http://www.nciaei.org/section/pdfs/SwimPoolGrid.pdf If your equipment upgrade was 2003, it...

Trichlor Pucks. 3 vs 1 inch.

I use 3" pucks in my ~15,000 gallon AG pool with no problem. You could always buy a small bucket at Wal Mart to try them out and see if you like them before you commit to a bigger bucket.

Replacement bottom rails for 18' above ground pool

Pics would be helpful - can you post any? There is a decent chance if it is a Doughboy that you can locate it here: http://www.doughboy-pools.com/ServiceSu ... pport.aspx. Enter the data requested and the different Doughboy models will come up.

Bonding wire not found on equipment pad

I may be completely off base here, but I know in my area, the bonding issue was non-existent till about 10 years ago. Could it be that the current standards for bonding were not in place in your area when the upgrade was made? I am sure they were not in place when the pool was built, though...

I want to start the BBB method but....

Welcome to another Marylander!! I use a hybrid method for my pool. Since I have to partially drain and refill to winterize (I imagine that you do too), I don't have a lot of trouble with CYA build up until late in the season. Here's what I do- When I open my pool, I adjust TA and pH to get...

Hoping for HELP to identify this pool.

Don't you need enough Liner Lock to cover the circumference of the pool? If so, you need 2*(Pi)*r which is the same as 27*Pi or 27* 3.14 ~about 90 feet.

Solar Pool Cover and Chlorine Floaters

I wouldn't stress too much about the floaters not circulating. I might bump the run time on the pump to 10 hours just to make sure the water is well mixed throughout the pool. The main risks are high concentrations of CL near the floaters as well as very low pH near the floaters since pucks...

Solar Pool Cover and Chlorine Floaters

If your CYA is already high, you are making matters worse by continuing to use the pucks. They just push your CYA even higher. If possible, get the CYA down (partial drain and refill), then switch to straight bleach. With an appropriate level of CYA and the pool mostly covered, you should...

Any Hayward Experts Available to advise?

Spoke with LL today- they assure me that what I have is identical to a 210T and that all parts are interchangeable. I believe them as I suspected this anyway. Thanks for everyone's input.

Any Hayward Experts Available to advise?

Yeah- it is weird. I have the Club Pro Model (looks like it anyway) except without the club pro stickers. In their place are Hayward stickers. One on each side of the tank- one if French and one in English. I kind of like the black tank- and if it is thicker for Canadian winter weather, that...

Any Hayward Experts Available to advise?

I recently purchased what was advertised as a Hayward Pro 210T sand filter from a major US supplier on Ebay. What I received yesterday from Fed Ex is A Hayward Sandmaster SM2106T. This appears to be the same filter as the 210T only with a black tank and directions on the reverse side in...

    Good soure for Filter Online

Thanks "Bama and Jason. Ended up with a s210T from Leisure Living on Ebay. Couldn't justify the extra scratch for anything bigger. This is a step up from the 180 I had been looking at. Hope 200lbs will do it! I figured $230 shipped was about the best deal I would find this time of year...

    DIY IGP on a Budget

There are people here that have sunk AG pools. I have not. Mine has a bit of a slope around it, so the goal is to dig the slope back and set the pool into the hillside. Then build a nice deck around it to cover / hide the excavation. One of the days. . . . The economy and all of that...

    DIY IGP on a Budget

I priced a 16x32 rectangle kit with good quality pump & filter, no heater, no SWG. Vinyl liner with one set of steps. Subbing concrete, excavation, and vermiculite floor, permits, do my own electric. Took me to 13-15K. The pool kit alone is around 8K IIRC. That's when I decided to partially...

    Finished DIY build in Georgia

Re: Starting IG DIY build in Georgia Those PVC Pipes look nice- but no connections on them. How did you bend them? Is it regular Sch 40? Heat? BTW- I'm envious.

    The Frankenstein approach to filtering

I agree with the others (having done a decent amount of plumbing with PVC). Measure and build as you go. Although sometimes, it does make sense to build more intricate contraptions on the bench for use as sub assembly. Two things: 1) PVC is (relatively) cheap, so get in there and go for it...

Hoping for HELP to identify this pool.

This looks close to what you have: http://store.namcopoolstore.com/seropo.html This one has a resin top rail whereas yours is steel. But the thing to remember is that they change all the time. So this year could be the same wall design with a different upright than last year. And next year...

Hoping for HELP to identify this pool.

Both the names Johnny Weismuller and Esther Williams were brand names of pools sold here in MD by a company called Namco and manufactured (I think) by Delair. Namco is located throughout the Northeast. If there is a Namco locally they might have some info for you. But be forewarned, Namco is...

    Good soure for Filter Online

I need to replace my filter. The multivalve on my 15 year old DB filter has a crack and leaks everywhere under pressure. The whole rig is pretty old, so I am opting for replacement. I am leaning towards a Hayward s180T but would also consider a Pentair SD 35. Since parts for both are...

    Storm water

I assume you've already tried it. The 1.5 " vac hose will remove water pretty quickly- makes a pump unecessary in my mind. The brave (stupid?) ones among us get the siphon started by suction on the downhill end of the hose. I anchor mine in the pool by attaching it to the weighted vac head...

    Damage control

pH is fine- so I wouldn't add Borax. Borax serves to Raise pH and you don't need that. Cl @ 6 is good- depending on what your CYA level is which you don't specify. What was CYA before you added water. You probably didn't dilute it THAT much. If CYA was OK before, I wouldn't go adding any...

A FEW MORE PICTURES OF MY POOL AFTER FINDING TFP

For the eyeball, I have a 24' round with a dished out center and I point mine down and with the direction of the circular flow (away from the skimmer). This serves to reinforce the current and sort of pushes most of the crud to the center so it is easier to vacuum. You might try it as well...
