About to make the change! Soon! But I'm nervous!

Once you do it for a few weeks, you will figure out what you pool requires on a daily basis. Before I switched to a SWCG, my pool would require about 2 cups of bleach a day, and maybe once every 10(ish) days cup of muriatic acid. Save the pucks for those times you go away for days on end. It...

    AGP Light options

I bought a Nightlighter Multi color. I did have to modify it a bit since my walls are more than 1.5 inches wide. However, I am pretty happy with it so far. The blue and green colors are probably the best. There are mixed reviews on it, but with AGP lights, the choices are limited.

Best pool cleaner for above ground?

My Wanda the Whale works great. I am very happy with it. I usually toss it in every Saturday AM for a couple hours. It cruises around pretty good on high, and even works on low speed too, just not as fast. Have you tried to call Hayward maybe they can help troubleshoot Wanda.

Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting

I might cut the top pipe to get it out of the way. Then just repair it later with a couple couplings and small section of pipe. It would make repairs to the 45 easier. More work, less swearing.

New radiant pool owner with questions

maybe it slowed because the water went down to where the hole is located? if that is the case it could aide in finding an issue.. Hopefully not though.

    2 Speed Pump and SWG

Here is a thought. What if you run it on high to get the air bubble out, then switch it over to low? I am curious since I just installed a SWCG, on a two speed pump. I bought the Si-30, and it is not see-through, so I have no clue what is going on inside the cell.

    Muratic Acid

Good info. We have four local pool stores, and one is closing because of retirement. It was the only one that sold Muratic acid. I could get a case (4) for 20 bucks. Guess, I will try Lowes. The pool section at my Home Depot is like one rack outside. They don't seem to carry it, and only have...

Does this water line look okay to you?

Thanks! I am actually still working on it this spring. That was a lot of work, probably more work than the pool. My only two pool project this year are to finish the deck, and put in a SWCG. The SWCG is done and so far, I love it. There is a diving ring on the roof, that I need to get off...

What permanent glue to use on pipes with threads?

I had some trouble with leaks. I used Permatex #2 from the auto store. My leaks went away. Threaded joints are meant to be able to be removed if needed. If you want to put them in with out never-ever removing them, you could use some epoxy. But they will never come out.

Does this water line look okay to you?

I had a similar issue, I was within 1/8" then when I filled, it seemed to be off a about 3/4 - 1". However, I think it is just the beaded liner and the pattern making it look off. When I measure the water to the top copping at different places around the pool, it seems to be less than 3/4"...

    Beyond Frustrated - Leveling Help!!

Rent a transit for the day. Chances are the place you rented the bobcat from will have them as well. They also make a laser level version too. A 2x4 with a level on it won't give you the best results. http://www.ccmrental.com/files/transit-level.jpg You get the transit level at a point in your...

New radiant pool owner with questions

hahah. Woman tight, I forgot about that :) The pool company actually found the hole. I never thought that would happen and it never crossed my mind. You might be able to put some food coloring around the gasket and the return jet when the pump is off, to see if the dye runs towards the hole...

New pump recommendation - need something quieter, more efficient

Typically the pool store will sell any combo as long as they make money on it. My guess is they won't work with you, they already have your money. Chances are you won't have to go back for much with TFPC. Might have to bite the bullet and just put the one they sold you in the garage as a backup...

    Re using valves

I know your pain. I saw a video and want to try it. I have some 2" ball valves from when I re-did my plumbing. I saved them to maybe try it down the road. let us know if you try it out and what your experiences are.

New radiant pool owner with questions

i had an issue with my radiant and the skimmer leaking. In my case there was some leaking around the white plate on the back. Here is a link to the thread I started.. http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/81362-A-leak-around-my-skimmer In my case there was a really tiny pin hole, probably...

    Solar Heating: panels or cover?

I have a clear solar cover, and last Thursday my water was 76. We had temps in the mid 80s with full sun all weekend. By Sunday afternoon the water was 86. Mostly what a solar cover does is retain gained heat. But, I am a believer that a clear one helps generate 'some' heat. Think of it like a...

Pump basket water level drops, also threaded pump fittings slowly leaking

I had some issues with threaded pipe leaking and here is what I did. I removed the pipe, and took a wire brush, and cleaned out the threads, not by moving it in and out, but around to clean out any debris. Then. I took some teflon tape, and did one overlapping wraps. I then got some Permatex...

Any good lights for an AGP (not Intex)?

Thanks! . I might have to do some modding when i get it. The pool came with some caps that go between the strips of coping. I think I can mount it there. It has a beaded liner that goes into a channel on the coping. It adds a nice touch.

Any good lights for an AGP (not Intex)?

I don't know. I might order it this weekend, or next. Weather is nice though the weekend, but they are saying its going to get cool again. So honestly, I am not in too much of a hurry. But it seems like the best light for AGP. With the exception of one that is through the wall. They make it in...

    Solar Cover Questions

I went with a 12mil. Where I bought mine, I had the option of 7,12,or 16. 16 is way to thick and heavy. 7, is cheap and thin, 12 was just the right mix of both. I can put it on and take it off myself. The thinner ones seem to only get a couple years out of them. I bought the clear one. It...

    Pool noob - TFPC fan

I had a bunch of leaks and used some Permitex #2. Leaked were gone. Teflon tape can cause damage. I broke my skimmer by tightening too tight with teflon tape. 175$ mistake. Now I go finger tight with Permitex then no more than two turns. Sealed does not always mean really tight.

    Are my reagents still good?

I left mine in the shed all winter and it froze. Some of the test were normal with what I had in the fall when i closed. However my CH test was bunk. It was reading way higher than normal, 2000. I order a new CH test, along with some others i was low on. After redoing my CH test it was 300. So...
