Re: Outdoor Island - what am I missing? Even cooked 4 pizzas on the pizza oven, they took 8 - 10 minutes each. Its not smoke in the picture, was cutting with grinder. This is the counter top we picked out.

    Countertop Question

I was going to pour concrete and add lights in the concrete. Got lazy, so I am going with granite (something funky) and bought under mount LED lights (16 feet) that change colors and are programmable.

I purchased one for about $1,300, just started my build, its sitting in the garage. Figure it will cost me $75 a pizza :-) (Assuming I use it 15 - 20 times per year), but life is short!

Pool Started! - Pavers this weekend!

Did the lattice work last night to hide the hole under the deck. Going to add the same retaining wall "rocks" to the underside to hide the cement lip you see under the lattice (shown in pics above). Also changed the steps to the correct color and added 15 low voltage step lights, look really...

Pool Started! - Pavers this weekend!

A couple people have asked about the pavers - I just got this from my installer, "It's a 3cm versi pattern tumbled traverine and frost freeze climate tested" - hope that helps. I know him well, runs a tile company, so I got them at $8.50 sq ft installed. That did not include the road base that...

Pool Started! - Pavers this weekend!

Still have to paint speakers same color as fence. Stucco the "pony" wall around the AC's. Replace the stairs, wrong color, you can see the correct ones in one of the pics (did it for safety as TREX had to be ordered). Replace walk on cover coping, wrong color, but had them installed for safety...

Pool Started! - Pavers this weekend!

I am in Salt Lake City, the installer said the same thing, the darker color would increase the heat, so we went with tan. Probably best decision, but I think the blue would have looked better.

Pool Started! - Pavers this weekend!

Let me ask my tile guy, luckily, my good friend is a contractor building homes so I have some pretty good contacts with contractors. The paver/tile guy is a friend (coming over for BBQ and swim tonight), so I will ask him. I think there were 4 different dimension pavers that were put down...

Been 10 days since plaster, no equipment?

They have the filter, variable speed pump and heater working (as of 7/3). Still have equipment pending (no telling when???). They are sending a person out daily to check chemicals and adjust, brush and clean the pool to try and keep me happy. He also guaranteed the finish saying he would have...

    Ledge Lounger

They float, haven't tried filling them with water. If I could find the Ledge Loungers for around $500, I would buy a few? I guess they will drop in price over time?

Pool Started! - Pavers this weekend!

Wow, that last 10% is taking forever, hopefully done by the end of next week. At least we can swim in it. The pool company is trying to make me happy by sending an employee over every day to check chemicals, brush and clean the pool. Still waiting on some pump equipment, but the heater...

    Wireless Water Sensor/Leak Detection

I ended up buying a PitBoss system (I liked the wireless txt based system). I think it will work well, if it goes off I can check my cameras for a leak :-)

Been 10 days since plaster, no equipment?

After a not so pleasant conversation on Saturday with the owner of the pool company, I was guaranteed the equipment would be installed and running by tomorrow - Tuesday 7/2. We will see, he also said he would fix/cover anything with the pool because his reputation is everything. It's 10AM and...

Been 10 days since plaster, no equipment?

If it is clear, should I be concerned? They keep pushing the equipment install out, supposed to be today, but it is 1:50pm and no one has come by yet.

Been 10 days since plaster, no equipment?

So, how concerned should I be? The pool was plastered and the filling started Tuesday 6-18. The pool company is brushing daily, multiple times at the beginning, but they have not put the equipment in yet, so no running water/filtration. Thoughts?

    DIY concrete countertop

I am thinking of doing this with some fiber optic lighting - this would be about 20 feet from my pool and I think the lights would be a cool look (maybe broken up chunks of sky vodka bottles for a blue look)? Any advice on this besides search the web?
