I use and recommend the Rachio smart irrigation controller. I have a Gen 2 model and am only using six zones. Gen 3 was recently released which allows manual control on the controller itself and my wife's only complaint because she is not into tech as much as I am.

I've also read that you.can float tennis balls in the pool to absorb some oil and sunscreen but I would defer to the experts as I am still in research mode.

In my area our pool builder told us they are required for hot tubs but not pools. Central Florida area.
