    Which kind of AG cover?

Nope. Mine was nice and clear. Just a bit of silt on the bottom, but a lot less hassle than the solid cover.

    Another Pool Cover Question....

I use the mesh cover. I drain 6" below the return and leave the return unplugged. If I get excess water, it runs out of the return. I opened to clear water this April when I opened.

Role of 12% bleach in preventing WS in the Liquidator?

I considered it. I will try the 6% first to see if it makes a difference. If not, I'll go with the borates.

    Which kind of AG cover?

Sounds like you really need a leaf cover. That will go a long way towards getting rid of the mound of mucky leaves you encounter in the spring. I have used the solid cover and the mesh cover. I prefer the mesh. If you are getting a lot of rain, the mesh cover will allow the water to filter...

Role of 12% bleach in preventing WS in the Liquidator?

I have used the Liquidator for 2 seasons with the 12%. I originally started with 6%, but had to switch to 12% because of the flow issues. I got the WS last year with the 1/2" tubing, but it didn't change the flow pattern at all. The highest flow I could get was 3 (it was a struggle to get...

Do you have to remove pool stairs?

My only hesitation about leaving them in when up north is if the pool freezes. It could do some damage to them I would think.

12 inch tear in the bottom of my AG liner,HELP

My experience was that the pool did not drain completely down. (I put a hole in the cove with my brush) I was left with about 12"-18" of water. I left it uncovered and replaced the liner in the spring.

    Cost of liquid shock (chlorine)

Re: Cost of liquid shock It definitely depends on where you are. I get 12.5% from the pool store on sale for $4.99.

    Biltmore stairs

I have them and I use some left over pavers to weigh them down. I use 4 of them. They weigh about 40 lbs total.

    Newbe with dumb pump question

Yes, I used teflon tape, especially on the hose connection.

    Newbe with dumb pump question

I have a ball valve on each side. One end screws into the bottom of the skimmer and the hose is attached to a union (male or female, never know the difference) at the other end on the pump side. On the return side, one end is screwed into the return and the hose from the filter is attached to...

I'm not sure how to read this result

IIRC, the hth 6-way test kit (liquid, not strips) that Wal-mart sells has the CYA test in it. I believe there is only enough reagent to do 2 tests, but that could help get you started until you can get a better test kit. It won't help with CL much, but I am almost positive it had the CYA test...

My brand new pool in officially OPEN... Now what?

Hello and welcome! Time to go to pool school (the link is in the upper right corner of the screen) There are 2 test kits that we recommend, the Taylor K2006 and the TF-100 TestKit. Most of us use the the TFTestKit because it ships fast and you get more reagents for the price. It can be...

    above ground pool ideas?

The majority of us have done some kind of rocks, it seems. I have pink marble rocks around mine and a drainage pipe also. Here is a pic:

    Welcome to my nightmare

Ok, I'll lie, but someone else might not...lol. What kind of pool pump do you have? Is it possible that the filter media may need cleaning or that you may need to backwash? Also, please put your pool specs in your siggy so they will always be there when you post and we don't have to look for...

    New to a baqu conversion

Actually, that is too high. I have a 21' round 52" deep and mine holds 10,400. With 52" high walls, you really only have 4' of water.

    Welcome to my nightmare

Knee-hi stockings. The stronger the return, the better the poolskim works. If your return is not strong, you may have another problem. How is the suction from the skimmer to the pump?
  22. H

    Welcome to my nightmare

The poolskim actually comes with a little attachment that is supposed to prevent the hose getting tangled up. I don't have an automatic cleaner, so I can't profess to how well it actually works.
  23. H

    Welcome to my nightmare

I second the poolskim. I have one and it does catch quite a bit from all the junk my maple trees drop. I believe some pine needles may get through, but not as many as you are dealing with now. You could also put a stocking inside of the bag to catch the needles. It is the same concept as the...

Before and after pics. AG pool. Mostly pavers work.

That looks great! I love the look of pavers. I wanted to do them around my pool, but it would have been way too expensive for my budget.

    Well Water=Brown Water. Test Results!

Turn the chlorinator off and leave it off. The pucks are loaded with CYA and that is why your CYA is going up. If you use BBB, you don't need the chlorinator. If your CYA gets too high, the only way you can get it back to a manageable range is to drain water out of your pool and refill it...

My BC_2_CC BaquaCrud to Chlorine Conversion

Looks like you are on the right track. :goodjob: You're pH is a bit low. You should bring it up to about 7.6. Use your reading from this morning before adding the bleach (7.2) to calculate how much borax or washing soda you need to add. Higher FC readings will make the pH reading higher...
