    What am I doing wrong...I'm lost

    Pretty sure the CYA reading is accurate. Pulled it up to that level SLOWLY with use of pool-calc and TF100. Thinking about just keeping FC at about 10, but then comes the issue of how to test. Obviously, OTO is out for levels that high and unable to test Ph at those levels, and drop testing...

    What am I doing wrong...I'm lost

    Here's the deal. Very happy using the BBB and TFP. Got the pool perfect! Then, I had an issue with dull looking water, and per instructions, took it back to shock and cleared up as expected. OCLT zero x2 and CC 0. Here's were I have been maintaining the levels: FC 5-7 CC 0 TA 90 Ph 7.5-7.6...

    Couple of testing questions.......

    Was curious because at high shock levels (28ppm), was looking for a way to check often without using so much regent. Obvious OTO is not a solution here. Haven't seen it cover and wanted to ask.

    Couple of testing questions.......

    Mostly curious about FC testing with the TF-100. I understand the extended test results for getting testing down to .2 ppm, but is it possible or wise to save on regent and test for higher levels? Such as using 5 ml of water...would that make each drop of regent value be 1ppm? And....can you...

    Poolcalc vs. CYA/Chlorine Chart for Shock Value...

    A bit confused here. For CYA of 70 on SWG, one says shock level is 20, the other says 28. Which one?? Thanks for all your help!!!!

    SWG -> CYA ?

    Dave,Jason,...Bang..you guys nailed it again! Brought the FC up to shock and running filter 24/day clear it right up. OCLT and CC in great shape on day 2..worked fast! (a little shot of synthetic DE may have helped too) Just wanted to say thanks again!!!

    SWG -> CYA ?

    Thanks Dave!! Will do that. How about the CYA?

    SWG -> CYA ?

    Just a little confused on the "optimum" CYA level for the pool with SWG. I "think" I understand that 70-80 is proper, but of course don't want to go to high. Looks like the FC Target is offset by the CYA. Pool look very good, but with my eyes, I see some cloudy/dull water that others don't...

    Water Clarity Issue? (snicker)

    Heard that 4 bags of Kitty Litter would help the filter. And...I should dump the acid from my car battery in the pool to adjust something... Going to aerate with a Johnson Outboard engine....should that "fix" me??? Pool store said I need calcium...spoiled milk work???

    Water Clarity Issue? (snicker)

    Came up with my own way, home grown water clarity test. I tossed a dime into the deep end and observed. Easily was able to see that it was heads and coined in 1994. Issue is that I can't make out the mint mark. Should I be concerned or even panic and go buy some "snake oil" from the local...

    CYA drops Ph--is this normal?

    Put 3 lbs. wallyworld (Aquachem) CYA in yesterday via sock hung from ladder. Almost all disolved in 24 hours (may have 2 oz. still in sock) and my Ph went from approx 7.7 to 7.2/7.1 in that time. Is this kind of drop normal/expected? Don't think it's a problem.....just surprised how fast it...

    New pool

    Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but I'm a little confused on maybe either how you said, or how I read "and the dot is clearly visible, at least way past 100"..... As you fill the tube, the value should be going down.... if I am in my right mind...(and I probally ain't!!) Just sayin...

    Lowering TA

    Down to the "fine-tuning" on my now clear, clean pool thanks to all you helpful folks! Bringing my TA down from 120ish to around 70. Using MA to lower the Ph to about 7.3 when the Ph gets to about 7.8. I have 6 returns turned up breaking the surface very well and two deck jets running. (plus...

    New Pool Owner - Recommended Equipment

    Well just let me jump in here with "my" experience...please don't confuse my opinion with valid facts!!! Don't "need" robot cleaner, but sure makes life nice. I'm on the 5th year of my TigerShark (now Hayward). Does a very good job and doesn't rely on pool pressure/suction etc. I just like to...

    Y'all are going to tired of me asking but

    Re: I gave another SWCG question I can only speak for my system. Mine has only one setting that you can change...the percentage of runtime of the pump. The SWG ONLY runs when the pump is on for my system. As I have a one speed pump, it's easy for me to vary the percentage of runtime to my...
