New Pool build --- Northern California **4/12/21 start date**

I think you could get by with one step but not sure if there is some code that would need to be followed. Best bet is ask your PB.

If I might say, I like both designs, but think I would prefer the additional seating. You could always add a couple of potted plants up there too. That would give you both options. I don't see an issue with the fence. Just be aware with what is on the other side. You could be up on display. :D

Setback is the legal space needed form property line to structure. So my legal set back is 5'. Anything I build must be 5' from the property line. This does not include "ground work". Ground work could be plants, side walks, concrete patio. Any structure such as a pool would need to adhere...

If the walkway is 3.5', I would think that is fine. As long as that is that walkway. If your blue line is the water and you have 8-12" of coping, your actual walk way shrinks. Sure you can walk on coping but visually if your measurement includes the walkway and coping, your getting thin. Try...

Our demo are was about the same as yours maybe a bit smaller. Then after the pool was put in we did a new 22' x 12' patio and tied into existing patio. The concrete demo was a huge mess.

My electric goes through the attic too. I got a bid of somewhere in the $8,000 range to run the electric. I did it myself. Would have been better if I wasn't 6' and 200#. I did concrete demo as well. It is expensive to get rid of in CA and not fun at all to run a jack hammer. Lucky for me...

    pool for bacteria

Good idea Newdude. That happens were I work. The janitor has to poor water into some floor drains once a month. If they go dry, the smell escapes.

    pool for bacteria

The vent pipe is not technically part of the septic (I think). But your house waste lines going to the tank have a vent. Air behind water or it won't flow. Or something like that. The second vent the OP is talking about, I've never experienced. Morning dipper, do you have the septic plans...

    pool for bacteria

My tank has one vent on the roof. No odors and have never experienced a tank where there is odor present from the vent, although do not work in the industry. I would say something is not correct or the system is blocked. Have you had it serviced and inspected? The only probably I have ever...

    Anyone had the 'rona?

Had several co-workers diagnosed with it a few months ago. No-one seriously effected. Not everyone in their home got it. Some did, some did not. I think the test is flawed, or it is not transmitted as easily as they are saying or perhaps some peopler not as prone to contracting it as others...

    Septic riser cover ideas

By thick plastic, I meant like a 6 mil plastic sheet. Like a black trash bag but thicker. Lay it over the lid and down the side a couple of inches. Then the dirt over. Just so the dirt is not actually on the lid and getting the screw heads clogged.

    Septic riser cover ideas

I would think 4-6 inches of base above the lid, then the paver. If your lid is too thin it can have some bounce to it. I would see if you can get a stronger lid. Adding a nice thick base should help with the pavers being stable. If you do this, I would recommend placing thick plastic over...

    Septic riser cover ideas

Thats tuff. Especially if they are large 2' lids. I think I would turn that area into a planter and wind my path around it. Plant something there to hide it. You could also do pavers and cover the lids with a few inches of sand. A good map will let you know what pavers to pull to get at...

    LED lights with iPhone control

If you have easytouch already, you need to buy and install ScreenLogic and then download the app yo your phone. You Can turn on and off lights, pick a color, or a light show. You can also adjust your other pool settings. But like mentioned above, if you have purchased nothing, then...

    How picky is too picky?

I agree Dirk, stating it would be next to impossible to make the cut perfect by hand. Something thattfink you will tend to get too much angle as you cut down. I have another observation. I will PM you and see what you think.

    How picky is too picky?

OP stated they used a hand held angle grinder. That would explain the sloping cut.

Equipment to drain last few inches of water?

The one a bought was a little more expensive ($50). I think it was the biggest available at HD, 500 gallons an hour.

Equipment to drain last few inches of water?

Yes, like for a pond. I have one I used to drain our pool shell during construction. I had two feet of water in the bottom from rain collection. It will get out down to an 1/8" to a 1/4" or so. If you have a slow spot in the pool, even better. I weighted it down with a rock and hooked it up...

Equipment to drain last few inches of water?

Have you looking into a sum pump or even a fountain pump? A fountain pump for a pool your size may be a better option.

    Second pump?

All add to your flow requirements. There are some experts here that can help specifically with solar panels. Look at how many panels you have and what the optimal flow is per panel. For example I have 6 panels and I think the are rated for 5-7 gallons per minute per panel. I have my pump set...

Anyone have an opinion about Acid Magic?

Wait..... I thought all MA was magic??? It magically removed an oil stain on my driveway. It magically sanded my garage floor in preparation for epoxy. It magically cleaned my stone walkway. It magically removed a spot on my concrete that looked like it was uncured. Oh, and it helps control...

What did you do to your pool today?

Alright, not bragging but it's in the high 90's all week here with 100 today. Oh, and a high fire risk warning. If we are not running from a fire, we will be in the pool later.

Cool water and low salt indicator

I assumed the dummy would be used if you had to send the cell out for repair, but honesty did not know it existed until about 6 months ago. Then I wondered if water running over it when not is use would add to it wearing down. I thought about it, and since the SWG is after the filter I assume...

    Glass beads

My plaster guy said he has to take something out of the mix and replace it with the glass. For example if it calls for 4 bags of grey rock, 1 bag of blue rock, and two bags of plaster mix, he would remove 1 bag of the grey rock and replace it with one bag of glass to keep it consistent. The...

Cool water and low salt indicator

I haven't used the dummy and would be curious to know if it would be better to remove it. I'm not worried about freezing or sun beating on it.

Cool water and low salt indicator

I don't close either. At some point the SWG will stop workings, it thinks the salt level is too low. At that point I unplug or shut the power to it off. Then just manually chlorinate through the winter. This happens when the water temp drops to about 55 degrees.

    Stonescapes mini pebble install streaking?

Looking really nice. I have nightmares of the Costco pavilion. Honesty would have been easier to build it from scratch. Put some water sealer on the wood. The sun is having it's way with ours.
