First test results of "iced tea" colored well water fill

my test kit arrived and I've got my first results. on another thread my iron water is clearing up using polyfill in the skimmer. unfortunately I already put 3 treatments of chlorox metal and stain control (96oz) before I learned that may only make filtering it out harder. (at least learning...

clear well water turned Iced Tea

not sure if I should start a new thread or not. I'm guessing yes. I got my first test results and will post elsewhere. my iron is still visible but appears to be clearing. it's taking a long time though. the pump has been on the last 24 hours straight with the polyfill.

Good idea. Thank you. The pressure gauge on my filter hasn't gone up. Does that mean I don't need to clean it or should I?

I think my pump is too big and my filter too small

thank you Teald024! fantastic information. These numbers will certainly help me get close to estimating the operating costs savings of a new setup vs my existing one. There are a handful of large filters on craigslist that may create some inexpensive options to pair with a pump.

I think my pump is too big and my filter too small

hadn't thought of restriction the flow, good suggestion. I'm more concerned about the wasted electricity since I'm not aware of how I can reduce the amp load without swapping out the motor.

clear well water turned Iced Tea

good word. I did a similar thing on both hoses when I filled however once I ran out of "softened" water the filter's weren't adequate. hopefully I won't brew tea each time I top off the water if I use softened water and a hose filter too. I'm gaining on the tea. the polyfill really catches...

I think my pump is too big and my filter too small

on the 1hp, dual speed, Matrix...I'm having trouble locating the actual amps used in high and low and the respective gpms. I could just be a little slow on the uptake. I'm definitely willing to invest upfront to save long term. it shouldn't be hard to calculate the payback time when I know the...

I think my pump is too big and my filter too small

I'm totally new to pools and this forum has been a great education! Thank you. From the reading I've done thus far it sounds like my pump is WAY TOO Big and my filter undersized. Everything is used and the previous owner inherited it unopened for the season when he bought the house...
