    Wanting to switch to SWG

My sig should have the pool details, but just in case... ~ 13.5k IG plaster. Phoenix AZ, so lots of heat/sun. Right now, being the midst of summer I'm using ~ 1/2 gal of 12.5% daily. Looking back in my poolmath summary - it looks like I use ~60-70 gals/yr of 12.5%, which comes to ~$300/yr in my...

    Chlorine usage

Hey everyone, going into my 2nd year as a pool owner. Thanks for all the help in the past! Today I'm just wanting to do a sanity check on my chlorine usage. I'm going through about 2.5 gals of 12.5% chlorine a week. Pool is 13.5 gal plaster in ground. Cya - 60 And I'm in Phoenix so it's hot...

    Chemical quantities

@duraleigh good call! I checked my fill water, and it's CH is just 10-20ppm (was barely red to begin with), and the TA was at 110. I suspect that spicket to which the auto-fill is plumbed may be plumbed to the water softener. When I did the drain/refill, I filled from two separate hoses to...

    Chemical quantities

Thanks @JoyfulNoise ! We had a fun day in the pool today and now I'm adding some cya and chlorine, and will try your suggestions! @proavia can you let me know where you're getting 12.5%, and what it's costing? Thanks!

    Chemical quantities

Here's my numbers as of 5 minutes ago FC 2.5 CC 0 pH 7.2 TA 75 CH 250 Temp 90F CYA ~30 CSI -0.45 So, regarding the pH, when I first filled by TA was high (120s), so I was targetting a low pH to bring that down over time, and then figured to bring it up to 7.4 or 7.5 (middle of the range) For...

FC 4 CC 0 Ph7.5 TA 80 CH 250 CYA 40ish Temp 90 CSI? Not sure what this is TA, CH, and CYA readings are from last week. I'll also retest those in the AM. I'll also be sure to follow the method above when checking the cya. I'm targeting 7.4 for pH.

    Chemical quantities

So I've had a pool for a few months now, and have been following the TFP method every since I started, and everything has been great! The pool is always sparkling, thanks! Now I'm wondering if the quantities of chemicals I'm using sounds about right... I'm in Gilbert, Arizona, so we get lots of...

Crack between decking and pool tiles

Pics attached...So we just got a house with our first pool a couple months ago, and now that I've got the chemistry and equipment basics down, I have a new question... there's a gap maybe 1/8"-3/8" in size almost around the entirety of the pool between the tile & pool deck...I don't believe it...

Intey suction cleaner - replacement parts

Thanks @mknauss Well, I had some zip ties laying around and threw those on there and it seems to be holding so far. Not sure if they'll deteriorate in the sun/chlorine, but I'll see how it holds up. Found the cleaner on Amazon...looks like it was only $100 to begin with, so pretty low end I...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

So, right now I have a poorly performing suction cleaner that needs my vsp to run fairly high (2600rpm). If I switched to a robot, like the active20, would I really be able to drop my rpms to like 700 just for circulation? How do I know if I'm getting good enough skim? Thanks!

Intey suction cleaner - replacement parts

So, I meant to post this hours ago, but got lost in the dolphin s200/active 20 thread haha. I want one of those, but might have to wait until next season. What I have now is this cheapo intey suction Crawley, which seems to work ok, but the weight keeps falling off, at which point it just...

    Chlorine freshness

    Thanks! Good idea!
  18. V

    Chlorine freshness

It has been increasing the chlorine levels, but I don't think it's effectively 10% anymore, as it's not bringing the ppm up as high as I was expecting.

    Chlorine freshness

Oh I understand now. YY DDD and then presumably a timestamp or something. I'll have to find something fresher next time!

    Chlorine freshness

So I recently picked up some 10% strength from my local Fry's for about $3/gal, but I think it may have lost some of its strength. Someone mentioned a date code to be in the past, but I cant seem to decipher it. Anyone know if these numbers indicate the date at all? Thanks!

    Pump operation & scheduling

And $6 / 2 gal at 10% is $0.234/oz, but if you get it at $5, it brings it down to about $0.195/oz
  24. V

    Pump operation & scheduling

    So...if I'm doing it right... $19 / (512 * 0.17) = $0.218/oz of chlorine?

    Pump operation & scheduling

Just talked to them on the phone. They have 4 gals at 17% for $19. Haven't done the math on the $/oz/% yet.

I was just revisiting this thread, so ask about Fry's/Safeway being added for AZ options.. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/best-places-to-buy-liquid-chlorine.88742/ And while the top portion for AZ doesn't mention it, burried further down someone mentions 12.5% at corsons a&m on Warner...

Also, just for reference, the guy I got the 12.5% stuff from said that cost him $4/gal.

    Pump operation & scheduling

I checked out my Fry's when the wife sent me on a late night ice cream run, and they have it $6/2gal, which isn't too bad, but I couldn't figure out where the date was on em. I'll have to take a closer look next time when it's not 5 mins to close haha
