    Pool Store... Advice?

My local grocery store brand of chlorine dropped to 6%. So I was calling around to find a less expensive source of liquid chlorine, until we do our pool renovation and install a SWG. Through the years I've heard some questionable claims/advice from pool stores, but this was a new one: PS: Hello...

    Taking over pool care

You might want to note the ZeoSand in your signature. That detail may make a difference at some point in your care. I have no experience with it, read more bad than good about it. Perhaps that's why your folks had previous cloudy problems. I recall reading that it works better with Calcium...

Ran out of liquid chlorine question

I think others have said you buy the first full jug for ~$12 then you take it back to get it refilled. Like propane tanks.

    2018 Bleach Prices

The bad thing is if they lower it and you aren't aware, then wonder why your FC isn't as expected. Our grocery store was sold out for a few weeks which made me suspicious when they got new stock in. Sure enough it is now 6%. For the same price of course! Check your labels!!!

Per Gallon! They're the only store around so they don't have any competition. It is a free market society

Ran out of liquid chlorine question

Thanks for the suggestion. The local pool store sells 12.5% for $6.99/gallon  so I was getting Food Lion's brand 8.25% for $2.99/gallon but their strength dropped to 6% recently. I could try Lowe's or Walmart, but the drive doesn't make it worth the savings. I was just concerned that...

Ran out of liquid chlorine question

I've seen a lot of folks on here say that, unfortunately our ACE doesn't. :-? I'd much rather refill a jug, it's such a waste. I at least recycle them. We just recently moved into this home and plan to install a SWG as part of the pool/yard renovation.

Ran out of liquid chlorine question

Today I too was told there was a RECALL they said "There was too much of something in it that made it dangerous." Funny I can't find anything online about the recall.

    Chlorine loss & pH level

^^^^ My thoughts exactly! I think what further compounded the confusion was that DOMO had already stated that they were using 8.25% LC not 10%. And the LC concentration doesn't even matter in the loss, just the ppm, right? Unfortunately, I've noticed that some threads will show signs of...

    Taking over pool care

I always had a DE filter and crystal clear water, but we recently moved and this pool has a sand filter. The water was balanced well but it still looked a little "dull". I started adding a little DE and our water has been *Sparkling* ever since. One question, if the "queen" will only allow a...

    Cloudy pool problems

I always had a DE filter and crystal clear water, but we recently moved and this pool has a sand filter. It takes sand filters much longer to clear up a pool, especially if your filter is very clean. The very small particulate matter in the water that makes it look cloudy gets through the filter...

Walmart bleach- careful 6% vs 8.25%

Our local Food Lion hasn't had any of their brand bleach on the shelf for about 2 weeks. So when it was back on the shelf today I checked the label and sure enough it's now 6% :grrrr:.
