Anyone use an inflatable spa in winter? (freezing temps)

I used foam board insulation like this, i taped together 2 panels side by side and then traced out the circular outline from the small ground blanket they provided and put it under the ground blanket R-Tech 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. R-2.89 Foam Insulating Sheathing-310873 - The Home Depot

Anyone use an inflatable spa in winter? (freezing temps)

Actually air is an excellent insulator as its molecules are far apart so heat transfer is minimized. So being a blow up tub doesn't necessarily mean it will lose heat that quickly. The sides of the blow up spas contain at least 6 inches of air between them which insulate it, just not sure if the...

Anyone use an inflatable spa in winter? (freezing temps)

The insulation on inflatable spas is mainly the air gap in between the inflatable sides and inflatable cover. I see they say suitable for all 4 seasons but they don't really give a temp range and I imagine that will largely depend on the climate where you live. They do have a thermal blanket...

Anyone use an inflatable spa in winter? (freezing temps)

I used my 110v 2 person fiberglass spa that had the heater built into the pump in the winter in CO and it worked just fine. However that was pretty well insulated compared to an inflatable spa. I have an Intex inflatable spa now, everything I read in the comments and reviews seems to indicate...

Getting a new inflatable spa. Bromine?

Curious if you are putting that outdoors, don't think that built in heater could keep up with harsh winters with well below freezing temps. Bromine is what I use in my Intex inflatable spa, I just put some powder in to get a bank and then use a floater to maintain it.

Intex portable hot tub with a yellow ring around the liner

Have had this Intex portable hot tub for a few months and have been using Bromine to treat the water. I went to drain and re-fill today and when draining there was a yellow stain on the liner wherever the water was up to the fill level. Any idea what would cause this and if it can be removed. I...

Leak in new spa after first fill

Mine did that all the time when I left the valves in the spillover position. I always assumed it was because the spa was higher than the pool and pumps and water was draining back through the pump into the pool. When my valves wheres set to pool or spa it didnt happen.

Re: New Pool Started in Peoria, AZ Nice, suppose to hit 100 this week so hopefully they get done quick so you can cool off. I'm in Peoria also, what part are you in, looks like you're in a new build area so I'd guess NW Peoria like me.

    New pool build in Nicaragua

Great looking pool. Are those power lines running right over the pool? What's that big clump of wires at the roofline that then run right down near the pool?

New pool build in North Texas! A long and skinny pool....

If you have a variable speed pump, can't you dial it down to reduce the flow of water to the spillovers? That's what I do with mine, I can turn it down really low and just get a nice trickle through my spillover that's fairly quietly and gives you the trickling water effect.

New Member - New Pool Build in DFW Area

45 to 61 in 2.5 hours is pretty good, I generally get about 3 degrees an hour with 10K gallons and 400K BTU heater in AZ. I heat my pool every Thanksgiving from about 65 to 89 for a few days and it costs me about an extra $100 in gas when doing that.

IG Pool remodel in Tempe AZ

You also have to factor in how much direct sun the pool gets a day, a pool in the shade 50% of the day vs a pool in full sun 100% of the day will probably have a few degrees difference. Also pool depth factors in as well.

IG Pool remodel in Tempe AZ

In the hot summer months my pool in Phoenix would be around 89/90 without using the heater. Right now my pool is at 68 degrees with the outside temps around the low 80s during the day and high 50s at night. I'll be heating it up around Thanksgiving up to around 86.

    New build, north DFW again!

Yes LEDs attract less bugs due to less heat and almost no UV emissions. It does not eliminate them completely but far less than incandescent and CFL bulbs and looks better than yellow bulbs. I replaced all my outdoor bulbs with LED and notice a big difference. With bulbs in your ceiling fan you...

    New Pool Build - TX

I understand that you have to maintain a working relationship with these people and I can also understand things happening that might cause some delays. Maybe its just me but if someone didn't show up when they were supposed to and did that repeatedly they would get a royal ***-chewing from me. New Owner/Build - IG Pool sloped yard - Riverside County Southern CA

Re: New Owner/Build - IG Pool sloped yard - Riverside County Southern California Looks nice, must of been a delicate job grading that on a slope so close to the pool. Are you using some kind of filter on your phone to take those pictures, looks like sepia or something and the color is very muted.

    Well, here we go

Like the castle finish of your house and the stone sills, must of been a lot of stonework to do that. All you need is a drawbridge across your pool and you're all set ;-)

How do you protect your little ones from the pool?

My brother uses a pool safety net as added protection as his small yard doesn't really allow for a fence. Not something you would use everyday but good if there are periods of time when you won't use the pool. Something like this: http://www.allsafepool.com/pool-nets/

    Flagstone Coping Edge Treatment

That looks terrible, it's supposed to look natural. It looks like they chipped perpendicular to the edge many times using an air tool or something instead of from the top. It seems odd and I'm not sure why they would even do that. It's almost like they did it after it was cut to try and smooth...

New pool build *Avondale/Litchfield Park, AZ* Presidential Pools

I'm less than 25 miles away from him so I would expect the water temp to be close to mine. My pool does get full sun and is currently around 72 degrees. So I was curious as to how his pool got so warm without a heater. In the middle of the summer my pool was averaging around 89 degrees. I did...

80 degree water, how did you manage that without a heater? New water from a hose is probably somewhere in the 60's. My pool water right now without heating is only 72.

Yeah those LED lights look way under-sized for the space to provide anything more than some basic accent lighting.
