    Germy Truth

My wife is a nurse, and she just handed me a scan of an article out of a magazine on swimming pools that I thought some here would be interested in.

    Intex SWG /w inground pool

If I am not mistaken, the Intex Pool SWG's are rated at maximum 10,000 gallon pools. If he were to invest $300 on two of these and it was not enough to keep the chlorine levels up, then it is no longer a small investment. He will be out the money, and will still have to pony up $800 for an SWG.

how much backfill against bottom rail of ag pool?

My pool is 8" deep on one side and 14" deep on the other side. I just backfilled it with whatever made sense and haven't had any issues. On the side with only yard, it was buried in dirt. The other side has a brick paver sidewalk going up to it and around it, I backfilled with the crushed...

How many of you have your own blog?

I have a blog, and need to get something up there, I think it has been about 4 months since I have posted. I am a bad blogger. I will put an article up there on pools and link back here for the contest. No problem.

    Home made laundry soap!

I've tried that on the bathroom sink before, and it did not work. The best way to unclog a drain IMHO is to just take it apart and clean it out.

Any ideas to hide solar cover and reel when not in use?

Plastic ivy, just drape it around it and it will blend in and look natural. I keep mine folded up in a rubbermaid thing with a hinge up lid and doors on the front.

    Home made laundry soap!

You can use natural chemicals to clean anything. Vinegar is good, a bit of vinegar and alot of water in a spray bottle is a good all purpose cleaner. I use Murpheys oil soap, lemon oil and water to wash the wood floors. Strait lemon oil to make them look new again. (they are old and need...

Ring that rope float attaches to?

The rope is just braided, you can do it with most ropes, look it up, it should not be too hard to undo it, once that is done, I would redo it right away around a hook that you can clip on and off of the one already there. Make sure it is stainless too. I have been taught how to do it, but...

Sand filter...add pea gravel base or not?...Poll

I voted undecided, although I would probably go ahead and do it, possibly to a depth of 3" over the laterals approximately. I like the idea of keeping the sand away from the laterals, and feel that it could go a long way towards keeping the sand from going through the return. If I ever need to...

    WFD?

Pork Loins are really good. The only problem with them is that they go dry pretty easily, you just can't cook them too long in a slow cooker. I like to put them in the oven in a stone roaster with a lid for like 2.5 hours for two of them at 325ish, then take them out and let them sit for...

    CHEAP Taylor tests - Leslie's

Great, I just order two also, more for the extra chems. I will be checking them against my tf100 here once I get them. If any of the reagents are good then it is worth it.

    Bleach VS Chlorine..cheaper??

I get 12.5% liquid shock from the pool store, I get it for $10 for 4 gallons, so that is about $2.50 a gallon. When I find it on sale I will get it for $8.00 a case, at which point I will buy about four cases. I usually only buy 2 at a time. My pool seems to use about 3 gallons every two...

    Aeration set up

It won't cut it. I ran a thirty gallon compressor on full bore running the compressor motor non stop for three days to lower mine. Never shutting off, it ran non stop. I would not borrow anyones compressor without understanding that it may get killed doing this. They are not designed to run...

    Wash out !

You could also cut the bottom 90 off, and put the pipe underground and have it come out closer to the bottom. That is what they do with drainage ponds, they will get the water to go into a manhole and then have it flow into the pond at water elevation. If you can get it to come out onto flat...

    Wash out !

How about putting sod there. it is instantly green, and it would probably love the water, plus once established I doubt it would wash out. I have a lush lawn and I don't have problems with anything like that.

All is good. I figured it was something that I could change. All I was looking for was a solution. I knew I could get it with time, but I was busy too. Hope the site is going to be more stable this time. Like all you need on top of normal life is more problems. Thanks

setting my pool in the ground

The hole filling with water is really going to depend on the type of soil that you have. Is it sandy soil, rocky, or is it clay. If it is clay what sort of clay is it? Is it a dry hard clay, or a malleable moist clay? You see, there is no good answer to that. But, if you do it, putting a...

    Can't see all the posts

Well, since nobody took this on, I found the reason. All I needed was to have the time to mess with it. In my profile I had the boxes for display posts within the last 1 day checked for some reason. I sort of remember doing it, and if I did I imagine that it was thinking that it would be for...

    Can't see all the posts

Seems like an odd thing. When I go to check the new posts, I can only get the most recent ones, usually like the last two or so. If I go directly through the main page to the thread, even with 4 pages, no matter what I get the last page with the last couple of posts. If I open the thread it...

    Steady drip on Return Hose

Use the plumbers tape, and then take some plumbers grease and put it on the top of the tape. This will lube it up so it will spin in easier. I have done this on plumbing stuff for years, and this year I did it with the pool and it works awesome. Not one leak anywhere. Last year it leaked all...
