    Told not to water gunite?

Water it. The wetter it stays while curing the stronger it will be, and moist curing also greatly reduces the risk of shrinkage cracks. FWIW when this chart refers to "moist curing", it means either submerged in a tank of water and lime, or held in a chamber with misters running constantly...

    Freeform in MA

Sorry to hear. Rain delays aren't something that can be controlled, but damage from rain is easily avoidable and totally unacceptable IMO. They should have a roll of plastic with them to cover up the freshly installed tiles any time there's even a slight chance of rain.

    sand in pool

Multi port valves do, but push pull/slide valves do not. I think I'd run the pump either way. Gonna have to vacuum up the sand later anyway, there will just be more to vacuum if the pump keeps running.

    2” piped into pool?

I think something like these 2" suction fittings and covers are what you're looking for. This is just one example, there are other sizes/types/colors. The one in the link is a 2" inside slip connection, but they carry threaded versions as well if your pipes have threaded fittings at the wall...

    Cost of Abalone?

I'm sure a lot of the cost is location dependent, but around here the bags cost the plaster companies around $100/ea, and the plaster bids I got were $150-$250/bag. My pool is about the same size as yours, and I'm planning on adding 2 bags, hand cast.

Need Plaster Resurfacing Feedback - Pics

Good deal. My plaster varied in thickness from ~1/4" to nearly 2", and some sections came right off, while others were a struggle even with a mid size demo hammer with a flat chisel attachment. Hopefully it will continue to go smoothly for you. The photos you posted seem to show the plaster...

Shotcrete done but wetdeck/tanning ledge too shallow.

I had the same thought looking at the pictures. Appears to be more like 1-2" of water depth on the shelf. OP, make sure they chip out enough to give your desired water depth, keeping in mind that the water line is generally about 3" below the top of the bond beam.

    new pool in tucson az

Did the plumbing myself. Doing everything other than the plaster application myself actually, which is why that's really the only sub I've researched. When I first started the plaster chip out I did have a custom pool builder out for a quick consultation, since I knew absolutely nothing about...

    new pool in tucson az

I know the OP used Stewart Pool Plastering for the plaster, and I'm about to use them as well. Can't really help with any of the other subs though, sorry.

Features on a budget - IG build in Central Texas

Looks like some classic TX caliche! A bit too hard to dig with a bucket, but should break up pretty easily with the hammer breaker. Hope it doesn't slow things down too much. Looking forward to updates.

Umbrella Size Recommendations for Sun Shelf

Size really depends on the size of the shelf and the spacing of the umbrella sleeves. We found that the 11' diameter umbrellas were too large, and the 9' ones work well for our use. I can't remember the brand names off hand, but we've tried several, and most of them are pretty comparable. Some...

    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

Re: Pool Depth - The Novel Wow! Good job. I used the same general concepts to get my estimate, but without near as much detail or time spent. It looked to me that the floor in the shallow portion sloped away from the walls some, so I assumed a 3' depth there even though it's only 28-30" water...

    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

The sourcing and installation of the equipment is relatively straight forward, and most moderately handy people can easily DIY it. You can also likely find better prices online than what the pool company will charge, even before installation costs. That said, most of the pump and SWCG...

    Abandoned Pool - Suggestions Please

How are you estimating the volume? I ask because when I run your dimensions I get a rough volume estimate of closer to ~45k gal, which could make a big difference in equipment selection.

New Home -- Want to build a pool

I don't know enough to be of much help, but I'm curious what you mean by "cutting out the infinity edge and keep the zero edge"? I always thought that those were different terms for the same thing (also called negative edge, vanishing edge, disappearing edge, etc).

    Skimmer/Plumbing Question

How old is the pool? Do you have a main drain, or drains, and if so are there valves to control flow from the drains at the pad? What does your plumbing look like at the pad? The second port could be one of several things, and the age of the pool could help indicate which one is most likely...

    DIY Pool Rehab

Wasn't able to get as much done as I'd hoped due to monsoon rains most of the weekend, but the skies cleared long enough on Sat mid-day to pour a footer, and enough Sun evening to get started on the block wall.

Not sure I even realized he was a pool builder. Some of his designs are pretty amazing, particularly his unusual approaches to coping/high waterlines.

Could be. I know a tunnel guy in CT who was (or maybe still is) involved with training for the sandhogs union.

    DIY Pool Rehab

Yep, and used some plaster chips from the pool to fill in the gaps between the bags. You might appreciate this. Struggling to get a few small concrete pours done at home, but supervised 99 yds of shotcrete application for work last week (11 nine yd trucks). The environmental group had us put...

    DIY Pool Rehab

Ah, I see. The wall to the right of the door isn't brick, it was a framed wall with MDF siding when we bought the house. Shortly after we bought it, I tore the siding off all the non brick walls, insulated the walls, covered them with sheathing and foam, and then stuccoed them. The artist does...

    DIY Pool Rehab

Wife and I were at work, but the kids and babysitter were in the house when it happened. They said the dogs ran inside through the doggie door frightened, then there was a crash, and when they looked outside the back porch was in the yard. Neighbors saw it happen, said it looked like a small...

    DIY Pool Rehab

Between out of state/country travel for work and a micro burst ripping half of my back porch and a bunch of roofing off of my house, the pool rehab project has been neglected a bit lately. But there has been a little progress, and hopefully a lot more soon. I drilled a bunch of holes, bent a...
