Found out at lunch today that I have no eyeballs in the return jets! There are just the outer rings screwed onto the housing, so there's no way to adjust the direction of the flow. Time to go to the pool store, I guess.

Yesterday, I found a live brown spider approximately 18 feet from tip to tip. OK, maybe it was 6 inches across, but it took up most of the skimmer basket top. I have now instituted a new rule- NEVER EVER empty the skimmer during darknesss hours.

OK, I went back to Pool School (summer school class?) and re-read the Shocking process. It plainly states that it may take up to a week to get a clear pool. So....I'll keep the process going til it clears up!

It's not threaded. I guess it's glued with the purple stuff. But its only one drop during the backwash cycle, so the leaking isn't bad, but I was wondering if it is sucking air when it's in the filter mode.

I've noticed on the last couple of backwashes, I have a small leak coming out of the connection between the filter and the pump. It only happens when I'm backwashiing. A large drop of water will form at the bottom of the union and eventualy drops off onto the side of the filter. It doesn't...

FIXED IT! I had a friend that's also a long-time pool owner come over and give me a hand. Seems that the problem was that the pump lost it's prime. It took a LOT of water to back fill all the plumbing before we got the pump to start pulling water, but once we did, I've got lots of suction now...

This is getting fustrating. I replaced the Key assembly and handle. The old one was very hard to turn, the handle would not spring back when pushed down, and it was all sun-faded to the point I thought it was going to crack. The new one turns easliy and the handle pops back up when you let go...

Come to think of it, no it doesn't. If I press it down, I feel tension on it going down, and it will stay in the down position. Is the spring in the Key assembly or in the valve body?
