I did an OCLT this morning and it was good. Although I didn't take it to a shock level, I did go to the top of my normal range per the recommendation of the pool calculator. It was 7 last night at 9 pm and 7 again this morning at 6:30. No CC. My CYA is 60.

The good news: my pool is sparkling clear. The bad news: Now I can see all the dirt/leaves/junk on the bottom. The good news: My leftover baracuda (that I named R2D2) is going to town on cleaning it up. The bad news: It's supposed to storm again tomorrow, dumping more junk in the pool.

And I'll add that it might take a week or more for the water to clear completely, but it will. I was all panicky about my water not clearing up, but after a week it is now sparkling clear! These guys know their process.

I'd put the required amount for each day in some jugs, label them for each day, and have a neighbor or friend drop by to pour in each day with a promise of a swim/bbq party later.

I just added DE to my sand filter today. It took 3/4 of a cup to raise the pressure. It went up 1.5 lbs on the last 1/4 cup I added. Four hours later my pressure was up to about 35% higher, so I backwashed and rinsed. And, yes, I've got a whole lot more I can dump in now.
