    Pool Cloudy and Blue

Numbers look fairly good. Just get the FC TO 20 PPM with liquid chlorine, and the CC combined Chlorine below .5 I reccomend triple filtration. Skimmer socks, whatever pump filtration, and Duda Diesel bag on the return jet at 5 micron.

air relief slowly dripping water once pressure rises.

Could be an o-ring too. I've had my plastic air relief valve leak because of a shrunken o ring. Lube the o ring with clear silicone lube.

To SLAM or not to SLAM

Your numbers look good. 20 ppm FC is good SHOCK SLAM numbers to maintain. You might need to just brush and filter out the small amounts of algae. But you want it to turn white and be killed during the SHOCK SLAM process.

    Pool Still Green After Opening

Metals are up specifically because you added Algecide which is copper phosphate or sulfide. Alkalinity increased is nothing more than expensive baking soda or sodium carbonate. Use the TFP pool calculator to determine how many oz. of baking soda you need to get to 90 ppm alkalinity. You want in...

    Before and After

JWAG123 that's awesome!!! 72 hrs!!! I've gone from light green clear to crystal clear in 72 hours, but your shade of green to clear is record time. Probably would have took me 4 to 5 days. GREAT DEMONSTRATIVE JOB OF A PROPER SLAM

Green after a month of work

STOP USING ANY POWDER FORM of shock which is also known as calcium hypochlorite. Unless you specifically want to raise you're calcium hardness, and chlorine in one swoop. Also STOP USING TRI-CLOR. Chlorine tablets. Over prolonged use, it will raise you're CYA levels. STICK WITH LIQUID CHLORINE...

    Pool Still Green After Opening

You can totally save that pool. I've had 6 seasons as a pool owner, where 3 have been opened crystal clear, and 3 have been opened completely black, or green due to my own neglect. My pool is currently clear green as of today. What I have learned from here over the years and my own experiences...

Cloudy water will not go away...need advice please!

Try ordering a Duda diesel bag. They're basically bags meant for filtrating diesel oil. But you can cut the ring off of it and use it by clamping it onto a 90 degree return fitting. Let it get dirty it will filtrate finer they make them in 5 micron. Also I recommend skimmer socks. Keep the...

    Enhancing cartridge filtration

Thanks everyne for all the suggestions. I love the proactivity here and responses. Usually once i run clear. I usually clean the cart filter once a season if that. Another thing worth mentioning from one of my post from a couple years ago that me and Kim were talking about. I kept finding minute...

    Enhancing cartridge filtration

Pool owner patience. P.O.P. and a LOT OF RAIN. Crystal clear. I can make tails on a dime from the kitchen window . Another thing someone on YouTube suggested might be worth mentioning. If you alternate cartridge filters after cleaning and let them dry out it might shrink up the fibers a little...

    Enhancing cartridge filtration

Good suggestions. Thank you. Kim. I remember seeing a designed cartridge filter sock 4 years ago but was never able to find it again, and never ordered it. But yeah I'm willing to try a fabric banded over it. Currently now I only have two bands across the pleats on the filter. The third middle...

    Enhancing cartridge filtration

Hey Everyone, Looking for products, DIY hacks or suggestions on improving cartridge filtration down to 5 micron from 10 micron on cartridge filter. Looking to catch suspended fine particles in cloudy water without aid of clairfiers or additional floc. Water is clear before turning pump...

    Warning About Walmart Liquid Chlorine

Added 12 gallons of 8.25% over 3 days. Wanted to take the pool to shock level 20 ppm after clearing most of leaves from bottom of pool. Don't have a Taylor 2006 kit. Just HTH OTO measurement for FC so can't really judge above 10ppm unless it's significantly darker than indicator. I'm probably at...

    Warning About Walmart Liquid Chlorine

Thanks for the tip off. I was dumping about 10 to 15 gallons of bleach last night to clear my green swamp out I used a mix of pool essentials and, walmart brand bleach and noticed the same thing in didn't have that bleach scent and smelled like water. I ran it over my fingers and they turned hot...

Ok i got it now and understand the cya tri chlor di chlor relationship. For some reason i was under the impression specifically clorox brand bleach was dichlor, realized now its sodium hypochlorite I never realized the cya implications of using trichlor. I exclusively used pucks on my first...

Should i pull the tri chlor pucks and switch to dichlor bleach? Also does dichlor have any affect on cya? Since i cant get an accurate measurement on the cya for now and dont want to raise the cya too high and am not considering using calcium hypochlorite right now for shock since my calcium...

Ok this is embarrassing. I am in my third year of being a pool owner and homeowner. I thought the hth oto chlorine/bromine window was supposed to indicate a range like 2-4ppm 3-6 ppm and so on for both chlorine and bromine. So yes i am reading it wrong. No wonder i have beginning algae out...

My test kit is a 6 way test kit from hth. The fc measurement window tops out at 10ppm so i cannot precisely measure above. 10ppm fc. Sorry what is cc abreviated for again? Need to get a more comprehensive kit like taylor2006. I understand the SLAM procedure. But what is the OCLT? Test?

Vacuum Pool, Dirt returns within a couple hours????

I typically only have to shock once or twice a season. I need to look further into the SLAMing process however due to sediment/possible dead algae issues every year.

Algae or sediment? Now I think it is the stairs

Re: Algae or sediment? I think it is sediment Having the same exact issue/confusion if sediment and or algae on bottom floor. And dont even get me started on that Sade/Smooth Operator song. My wife her family and her friends will never let me live that song down. When I was young and up until...

Recent sediment at the bottom of pool

Very good advice on all parts. having same exact re-occurring issue with sediment every season. Have put nylons over skimmer basket on top of skimmer sock. Didn't think to put nylons over return jet while vacuuming. Will try that if my powerful x stream 1.5 hp motor doesn't blow a hole right...

Ok this will be my fourth attempt in putting up a post in 4 hrs due to my post almost being complete, and me like a dummy hitting the back button on my phone several times.
