I'm a little confused about the DE filter comment, when you stated you put two new cartridges in before you closed the pool for winter 2 years ago? Are you on DE with DE grids, or Cartridge filtration. If you want to go the easier faster but more expensive way (depending on how much you are...

My SLAM w/ Duda Bags & Fiber Clear

OH YEAH!!! MAY 20TH Looks like Caribbean Water. YEAH ITS WORKING!!! Its just around the bend...from hazy clear....Maybe 1 to 3 more days. I always wondered myself with the bags. "Do I get clearer faster by cleaning them more frequently at 5 micron?" "Or do I let them load up a little bit...

My SLAM w/ Duda Bags & Fiber Clear

Re: My SLAM w/ Duda Bags & Fiber Clear Start @ message #40 I can see a distinct difference between May 13th 14th and 15th. It looks like you are at that cloudy blue phase where the sun light is just start to show and break through the water clarity on the pool floor. Keep going !!! :-) should...

Any improvements madyogi? Or are you going to pool store for iron analysis as Texas Splash suggested?

    algae or just dirty

Bleach in high enough concentrated levels should turn any piece of plastic white IMO. What is your SLAM level right now?

Day 5 of Slam and still green with no change in color, please help

Couldn't hurt to bump the FC to 18 once and measure the OCLT fall if the CYA really is 30ppm. Maybe the higher levels will turn your water to turquoise as it sanitizes. As Jason and others mentioned especially with sand, allow the sand to get dirtier, and backwash less frequently. General rule...

Not Sure Where I’m at in the Algae Fight

Yeah I fortunately haven't shorted out my pump, but have blown a cord and gfci from the connection laying in a puddle. Is there a splash block you can raise pump or unit with or divert the water away somehow?

My SLAM w/ Duda Bags & Fiber Clear

My SLAM w/ Duda Bags & Fiber Clear FUNANDSUN Now you are talking!!! There are success reports on TFP with someone in California that filtered out fire ash successfully out of their pool after a forest fire near their home with the Duda Diesel 1 micron. I never bothered to try the one micron...

    Help green pool

As long as the threads give easily on the eyeball jet for removal. The liner shouldn't be of too much concern. The housing that accepts the eyeball return jet is screwed into the external stem attachment outside your pool that you connect your hose to. The housing has a gasket behind it that...

    First time slammer, checking in

Looks good. Very close to clear. I am going to say this about poofs of inert matter in the water, and it dispersing when you touch it or move it. Given your current circumstances...Most likely an brown algae spot close to being dead, and adhering by its slimy sticky biofilm, due to lack of...

Keep running the SLAM until you pass the 3 criteria of OCLT and then we can talk filtration improvements.

    Frog habitat

Oh boy. Sounds like a resurrection from the dead. This ought to be fun. I had frogs in my skimmer once. It was princess charming.....ribbit.... Get as much debris out of the pool as humanly possible, and drag the bottoms with the leaf net. Even if the kids have to do it blind. Have them cover...

    Help with Stubborn Cloudy Green

Thanks for the CYA procedure tips FUNANDSUN. I haven't even had the chance to dial in my cya or check it cuz I ran out of reagents. Right off the bat I just shot for 20ppm on the SLAM going blind, I'm so broke being off from work intermittently because of my kid coming down with croup, and...

    My SLAM and Filtration Issues

If you can figure out how to attach it to your pool devil that would work too... Or you can just simply vaccum on recirculate, if you clamp and apply the bag to one of your return jets. No one here is going to believe me here, but it took me 4 years to figure out a recirculating sediment issue...

    Help with Stubborn Cloudy Green

If you can see sun light hit the floor even under clear green circumstances, I think you are at that tipping point of turning aqua blue from my experience, as long as maintaining SLAM. Lets hope your pump can give you a reasonable turn around time.

Yeah the CYA test always messes with my eyes too madyogi. My pool was exactly your clear green when I opened it two weeks ago. I know you have a lot of gallons to turnover, and have been doing awesome maintain the SLAM levels and the rest of the chemistry for a month. I'm a little perplexed that...

Not Sure Where I’m at in the Algae Fight

Hi madyogi, Yeah I caught early in the thread that the pool store advised AmandaGrow administer 2.5 gallons of liquid stabilizer, and didn't know if the initial pool store test results CYA was 0 initially and then raised, or 0 after the CYA or stabilizer was administered. You would think...

    My SLAM and Filtration Issues

THATS GRREAATT !!!! YEEEEHAAWW!!! If you are maintaining the same amount of pressure overnight for 12 to 24 hours before you even installed the bags, it sounds like the sand filters got what it could, and quit. The good news is now you don't have to keep adding DE and keep backwashing. The bags...

    Completely at a loss!

Vacuum to waste will lower your water levels. As TIM 5055 mentions above, vaccuming solids off the pool floor to waste, bypasses the filtration . We don't want to try that as of just yet, unless you actually can see, and have debris on your pool floor. We here at TFP want to see if we can get...

Not Sure Where I’m at in the Algae Fight

Hi AmandaGrow, Welcome to TFP. There is something in this thread that I noticed that I just wanted to heed a little bit of caution on. But first I just want to inform you of what stabilizer is, what it does, and how it functions Stabilizer is also CYA or Cynuric Acid. It is a buffer that...

You can go to you're local auto parts store right at the register, they have those turnkey stainless steel hose clamps. My Above Ground Pool Modifications

Sounds like my kind of fun. Haven't had the chance to read this whole thread. I'm sure you know this already, just make sure you bury that electrical conduit deep enough below the frost line for your area. I've been meaning to extend and jump off my GFCI to eliminate the extension cord even...
