    Unknown issue with pool

Sorry if this is a long post. I have these dark rings around what apper to be rough spots in my plaster. I also have what look like runs down the side of my pool in multiple areas. They seem to be a rust color but not for sure. I tried scrubbing them with a chlorine tab and a vitamin c tab...

Going on vacation for a week. Should I add the chlorine pucks to a floater or inside the automatic chlorine feeder?

Here is an example in case you do not use pool math. I use 10% liquid chlorine. Pool math tells me that adding 22oz will raise my chlorine levels by 1 ppm. I have actually found it's closer to 24oz. So I know my pool uses approx. 3ppm each day in this Az sunshine. So 3ppm a day x 7 days = 21ppm...

Going on vacation for a week. Should I add the chlorine pucks to a floater or inside the automatic chlorine feeder?

How many PPM of chlorine does your pool use each day on average? Multiply that by seven. Use pool math to figure out how many ounces of liquid chlorine you should add and then add pucks for extra protection. Disclaimer: This is how I do it, but I do not add pucks. I am no pool professional and...

Do you check your pool daily?

I do not have a saltwater pool and I check mine daily. Not the skimmer, just the chemicals.

Going on vacation for a week. Should I add the chlorine pucks to a floater or inside the automatic chlorine feeder?

I left for four days and added what I thought was enough chlorine for the time I was gone. Came home and all was fine. I didn't put any pucks in mine.

Walmart Pool Essentials - Stock Up?

Our Lowes and Home Depot sell it, but they store it in the garden center where its hot, but shaded all the time. Is this ok to buy even if its stored in the Az heat?

    Fighting two issues

Yes, all of my searching comes up with skin irritation from high PH. There is one that says itching, but that is for a spa with high PH and/or TA. I can not find the original one I read on here.

    Fighting two issues

About three days. I know rising PH is normal in a pool, but it just seems faster than it used to be and changing my TA has done nothing to slow it down. My biggest concern with the PH was if it was causing my itching problem when in the upper limits. I did read it on hear somewhere, I will look...

Really no idea whats going on with yours, but the only time I had low pressure was when I got some debris in my pump impeller. Once I cleaned it out my pressure went back to normal.

Is it worth it having a high cya?

My CYA is 80 and I have a FC drop of about 2-3 PPM during a hot sunny day in Arizona. On a cloudy day its around 1-2 PPM. My overnight is rarely anything. Your original question was what is the difference between high or low CYA if your going to still lose the same amount or more at lower...

    Filters VS Monsoons

Just an update; I did purchase a leaf canister and I also put hair nets on my skimmer basket. Prior to doing so I would have to clean the basket in my pump regularly. In the past three weeks I have not had anything in my pump basket, the two pre filters are catching the majority of the junk...

    Pentair cartridge recommendation

This is my first pool and here is what I did when cleaning my filters for the first time. Researched and shopped for filters, I also have the Pentair 420. I took pookdv's advise and ordered Pleatco cartidges. The price through Amazon was the best. The reason I ordered new filters is, I did not...

Why isnt there a male to female fitting that goes into the original PVC pipe and then brings it back to the regular size on the female end. That way if your to close to the concrete you can still glue the male end into the short piece coming out of the ground?

    CYA test results and adjustment

Pool math has been pretty spot on for me, but why not start with the lower number if you have concerns, then get a reading after the correct amount of time, and then go from there.

Is This an acceptable way to partially drain my pool?

In regards to the cleaner moving, couldn't you remove the cleaner and anchor the hose in the bottom of the pool? Not sure if this is possible or safe for the equipment, but seems logical.

It's been eight days and approximately 18,200 gallons of water has been changed out. The drop in CYA went slow after the first couple of days, but has worked its way lower. My current readings are; PH 6.4 TA 90 CH 320 CYA 100 I may go a couple of more days to see if I can get the CYA a little...
