Considering Pebble Tec but have concerns

I've searched the archives, but didn't find any discussions of this particular question in the last year or so, and we're very close to nailing down our specs: Is Pebble Tec too rough? I understand the longevity advantages of Pebble Tec, but have read enough stories about how it's too rough on...

First meeting with PB this week -- any advice?

That's a good question, bmoreswim! The PB does not yet know that we're thinking about less paving, so I'll find out in the meeting what the price per square is first. Thanks for the advice.

First meeting with PB this week -- any advice?

We've talked to six companies over the last six months, and got estimates from three. The estimates were as apples-to-apples as we could get them at this early stage. One PB was eliminated because the salesperson suddenly went dark on us for 17 days, so we took that as a very bad sign. The other...

First meeting with PB this week -- any advice?

Three returns and one skimmer. Winds are usually from east (we're three blocks from the beach, so normally blowing in from the ocean), so we should have the skimmer on the west, correct?

First meeting with PB this week -- any advice?

We've chosen a PB and will meet with him Thursday. We'll be going over what we want, then he'll come back later with a detailed contract. (We already have the initial estimate.) Any words of wisdom for this first meeting? Anything you wish you'd asked right off the bat? I'm also attaching a...

Any 55+ folks installing a pool?

Just turned 60 in April and hope to break ground on our first pool later this summer! My reasoning: The TFP maintenance protocol will keep me in shape, so I'll be able to enjoy the pool for many, many years to come :)

    Handrail considerations with SWG?

Should a salt water pool have a particular type of handrail? Thinking about corrosion and/or electricity conduction ...

Variable or 2-speed for SWG pool?

Thanks, everybody! I've just emailed the pool builder to ask about the SuperFlo. Mary - - - Updated - - - No doubt! :)

Variable or 2-speed for SWG pool?

Thank you for the explanation, Jason. I emailed the builder to ask about the Whisperflo size spec and this was her response: "That is determined by the county...based on gpm, size of plumbing distance from pump and spec on pump" I thought that was a little odd, since she was out here to do...

Variable or 2-speed for SWG pool?

No special high flow needs here. So do I understand you, that a variable speed could be less costly because it will allow a lower speed than the lowest speed on a two-speed? (Wow, that's a lot of "speeds"!)

Variable or 2-speed for SWG pool?

The builder we're considering has specified a two-speed pump, but are there reasons to consider a variable speed instead for a small salt water pool?

Your opinions on very small inground pool?

An autocover would be fantastic, but I think that may strain the budget a bit :) - - - Updated - - - We have considered those, and visited a local dealer. It's not entirely off of our list but we are leaning more toward a regular in-ground pool at this point.

Your opinions on very small inground pool?

Hi all, After a long hiatus (went through a health thing, so held off on spending money to see if it was serious — it wasn’t!), we’re back in pool-buying mode. We’ve just gotten an estimate from a third builder with the following main specs. Want to know what you all think about these...

Your opinions on very small inground pool?

Thanks for all of the replies! Some answers/responses: We do plan on redoing the remainder of the backyard area, so overall, it will be a nice place to hang. Landscaping, pavers, etc. We wanted to do solar, but have too many wonderful trees to make it work. It will nearly always be just...

Your opinions on very small inground pool?

We are getting very serious about signing a contract for a new inground pool (so no definite information for a signature just yet), but I wanted to get opinions on some of the specs we’re currently considering: 10’ x 15’ rectangle, 4’ at shallow end and 5.5’ at deep end, 120K BTU heat pump, salt...
