    In-pool umbrella recommendations

I've used one all summer long that I bought from Lowe's and it is still in great shape. I spent less than a hundred bucks on it, and I made sure it was aluminum before I bought it. If there is rust it sure isn't aluminum. Without seeing one in person I wouldn't trust it myself. You might...

If FC good can you still get algae?

Do you have a ladder in the pool? Ladders can be a source where algae loves to hide and proper chlorine levels might not be enough if the ladder is not cleaned often enough. Have you been brushing weekly? If not start brushing. I would bring the FC up to SLAM level for 40 CYA since it is...

    Question about SWGs

I'll say that going up to 40K sized cell would be best for your pool, you are in a hot climate and the 40K sized cell will work just fine for that pool. You can lower the run time on the pump since it will output more chlorine per hour than the smaller sized cells and it will last longer in the...

    Hayward Turbocell t-cell-15

First step is remove the cell and inspect it, if it has scale clean it with water and acid ratio of 4:1. The strap wrench idea above is best to remove the cell. Report back after you inspected the cell.

    Question about SWGs

Welcome to TFP! Get a TF-100 test kit, a T-15 sized AquaRite, and keep reading in Pool School. Soon you will get rid of the pool service as you will learn that keeping a pool balanced with a SWG is very simple.

Concerned I Have the Wrong Cell Size

You could have bought the AQR940 SWG which has an extended life T-15 cell and maintained the $500 rebate. Your dealer might not of had one in stock I guess. The $500 rebate doesn't make too much sense, but they are only offering it with a T-3 cell, and extended life T-3 cell or the extended...

    Considering SWG - installation question

Overall the SWG's are increasing in price, not going down and the warranties are being reduced. Buy it when you plan on installing it so you take full advantage of the warranty time frame.

    Considering SWG - installation question

If the second item that is wired on the 2 and 4 terminals is a heater you can move those to 1 and 3 since the heater has an on/off switch built in. Then wire the SWG to 2 and 4 along with the pump.

Looking at buying SWG. Does a 24/hr pump run time have any negative impact on cell life?

I would buy a SWG that you can control the output percentage in fine increments. There are some models that allow adjustment at 20% or more increments. With running the pump 24/7 and depending on the size of cell you get you will need to go lower than 20% during the cooler months. The amount...

AquaPure1400 stuck on code 170 with flow sensor disconnected, front board?

Make sure the incoming voltage is correct, either 230V or 115V. If the incoming voltage is good, remove the flow sensor from the front board and check to see if the 170 code goes away. If it does go away then you need a new sensor, if the 170 code remains you need to replace the front board.

AquaPure1400 stuck on code 170 with flow sensor disconnected, front board?

Welcome to TFP! Are you comfortable checking voltages on the board? You need to check the transformer voltage to make sure it is in range. The troubleshooting guide states that your problem is either with the transformer or PIB. If you google Jandy AquaPure Workbook you will find a...

    Aquarite SWG Question

How old is the cell itself, if you are not sure post the serial number and we can determine the age of the cell from that? A new cell and board will cost around $800ish and have a one year warranty. A new system costs around $1300ish and should have a three year warranty.

AquaPure for both pool and spa

You want very little if any chlorine production while in spa mode. An elevated chlorine amount in hot water is not good. Do you check your chlorine levels in your spa and pool when testing? They should be very close to each other during normal operation. If you are testing the chlorine...

Life span of a Jandy 1400 salt cell

A 120 error code is usually a bad cell. There could be other issues, such as a bad cord, or scaled cell. If the code goes away and comes back it might be that one polarity of the cell is no good and the other polarity still has some life to it. It sounds like you need a new cell. Five years...

Is there an automation system that can change speeds of a VS pump while running solar

Rlab, you are correct in that was my exact question that I was after. From my calculations that I have done over the years, the low-speed on my pump is about the optimum for flow for heat transfer but it doesn't fully prime the panels. All plumbing situations are different and my panels are...

Brand new motherboard and salt cell less than 6 months old and still having to recalibrate

    Aquapure 1400 not generating chlorine

You need to get the chlorine level up add some bleach. Do an OCLT and report the findings. I suspect the unit is working as it should, since there are no error codes, and you have nascent algae consuming the chlorine as fast as the SWG can make it.

    chlorination off, no flow

Welcome to TFP! We need to clear up some confusion here, filter stopped running, what do you mean by filter not running? Is there an automation system that can change speeds of a VS pump while running solar

The question for my pool will be the required speed of the pump to make sure the panels are primed when the solar turns on and then I would like to reduce the speed once they are primed to maintain optimum flow to the panels if that speed is lower than what is required to prime the panels.

Dirt/Debris Falls Into Pool When Removing Robot

Look for a small hole in the one-way flap piece. It doesn't take much of a hole in it to let all the junk return to the pool. If the robot doesn't pick up the very fine dirt with the fine filters in it, then it most likely will have a small hole in the flap.
